This book is much smaller than I expected to be, but there is still a lot of content within it. It is laid out in an organized fashion and it has very useful information. This is great for all social workers to have because psychotropic medications are an important factor for us to monitor with our clients. Since we rarely receive direct education around this topic, it is our responsibility to make ourselves learned of this integral component of our clients lives. This book is not intended to teach social workers to diagnose or prescribe our clients, but to better understand the factors which impact their lives in many ways.
Great book. Updated information that's very useful and helpful, particularly for recent grads who are working in a setting that requires them to be familiar with the various psychotropic medication. The prices is astronomically high, which to me is just unfair and pure greed.
Purchased as a requirement for a graduate level class. All information needed for the class is contained in the book, and I haven't found any glaring omissions or incorrect content. However, this is hands down the most poorly written textbook I have ever read, filled with choppy phrases, abrupt transitions, grammar and semantics errors, mislabeled charts, repeated sentences... I could go on. I'm not usually much of a critic, and I don't have high stylistic expectations for a textbook - but it's to the point that it's very distracting every time I sit down to read. I wouldn't recommend purchasing this unless you need to.
This book would be very helpful and I would normally be interested in purchasing it, but will absolutely not do that at it's ridiculous price. I'll stick with The Pill Book and my MD and NP colleagues.
It's an interesting book but a bit expensive for what it is.
