If I could have, I would have rated this book a ZERO. As a study guide, it would be helpful to have the answers included in the book or at least an on-line access code to you could get the answers that way. This is an issue my instructor has also had with this book current and previous issue which she did take up with the company. The company was suppose to have resolved this issue prior to releasing this current issue. Well, the issue was not fixed! Book refers you to which pages to read in the book to "find" the correct answer. This isn't grade school where the instructor checks your work Leifer. This is college and the study guides are for student learning enhancement typically outside of class. What's the point if you can't check the work you've done to see you are right or wrong. Rereading material that has already been read prior to using the study guide isn't what I was looking for. Purchasing this book is a waste of time, money, and effort. Do Not Buy is my suggestion. It is of no help.
I bought this book for my OB/PEDS class for my nursing program, and I must say that it takes two complex areas of nursing and really breaks them down into small, manageable pieces through easy reading. This book's writing style is very tangible, and therefore makes for an enjoyable experience for the student. Easy reading yields better results, in my opinion. Furthermore, the pages contain special boxed-in areas highlighting very important and relevant nursing "alerts." At the end of each chapter, there is an NCLEX summary of key points that groom one for the big exam. Again, it's in an easy-to-understand format. Learning can be fun when the student isn't overwhelmed or intimidated by the complexity of how material is presented through some of the textbooks out there. This book is very inviting and effective. I recommend it.
Cons: I've got a 5th edition of this book also and compared it to the 6th. There are very few changes that I have noticed(I am 1/2 way through the entire book). It's would recommend saving yourself a ton of money if your a broke nursing student and buying a copy of the older one. At least this publisher didn't knock our heads off for a $150 dollar book, like the rest of these jerks did.The answers to the end of chapter nclex questions are only online. That's a pain in the ass. Also the study guide is worthless for this book. They don't provide the answers.Positives: Low gloss paper, decent layout and all in all it's a alright book. They have free online content which is pretty good. Although I would love to have it on a CD so I could use it at anytime, not just when I have wifi.
it does not have a answer key in the book so that you will know without a doubt what the answer is.
it doesn't have key answers at the end of the book so you don't know if you did good or not. I think this book doesn't help at all. How can you title a book study guide if it is not a guide?
The description said SOME writing and highlighting. This book had highlighting on almost every page using every color there is, so I couldn't just use a separate color to distinguish mine from the previous owner. The book does have a lot of great information in it and I did learn a lot.
Was looking for a textbook to help me supplement my notes in the rotation pediatric nursing and this book I found very good and I really do not disappoint me, delivery was well fast, all well packed and in good condition, I recommend 100 %
The format Is like the book, you don't have to try to find. The page wanted. I also like the way the pages are shown at the bottom of the screen. I would like to download this to the Microsoft Surface which. Is windows 8 and the book is not compatible with it.
