My Mom is a Nurse highlights the diversity in nurses and their roles throughout a variety of settings. I found this book very helpful in talking to my daughter about what nurses do. Growing up I only imaginged nurses as bedside nurses, it was not until I took a journey though nursing school did I discover that there are many other kinds of nurses. I am pleased with how Candace Campbell is able to share the diversity in nursing roles to our littles, something I found difficult to do on my own before purchasing this book. This has been one of my daughter's favorite books for the last couple years, she is now 7years old. Every time we open this book she has more questions. I cherish the conversations that have organically manifest after each reading, each time I am able to share a bit more of my passion with her.
I definatley feel like the context of this book is strange. They describe settings in which nurses work and some are not the norm, one being "the capital".. I bought this for my 4 year old daughter to teach her about what I do as a nurse, not sure that this is the right book..
