Prayer is very important to our spiritual lives, especially, learning how to pray zealously and correctly. What better teacher than to review recorded prayers in the Bible. The forward to this book states "the Bible records no fewer than 650 definite prayers, of which no less than 450 have recorded answers. All the prayers of the Bible are recorded in this book followed by commentary on the reason for the prayer, its meaning, blessing, effect, etc. I found it very useful as a devotional book and it would make a very good book for reference. I would encourage you to read this on a regular basis to help enrich your prayer life.
It is good, but would be a more useful tool if the prayers were "topically" indexed so you could find a biblical prayer under a specific need you might be going through at the time.
The author takes you through the entire Bible noting every location where there is conversation between man and God. Then, he briefly adds an explanation of the application from that discussion. My first impression of the title I thought there would only be a handful of prayers thinking it would be Psalms and those found in the Epistles. However, using his approach has made this into a wonderful devotional study throughout the Bible. I highly recommend to any who wants to find places in Scripture where there is conversation taking place between man and God as a means of knowing how to talk to your heavenly Father.
Some years ago (about 20 or so) I used this book in youth ministry and found it to be a real insightful book on the importance of prayer and keeping watch for how God chooses to answer them. Just recently in our Men's Bible study the subject of prayer came up and I had mentioned this book, and re-read at least a good part of it. I had forgotten just how much it had an impact on me, and it certainly helped revitalize my prayer life.In my opinion, this book is a must-read for the saint who desires to sharpen their discipline of prayer.
This book is very insightful and was helpful. I consider this book a quality addition to my study lab and has refer back to this book for help many times.
This book stays close to my Bible. I use it much in my prayer life. I find no greater than praying scripture daily in my Quiet time. I recently bought a second one for our church library. Blessings from above.
