I ordered this to help me with my fantasy baseball draft. This is way too much for my purposes. If you want to put together a spreadsheet with formulas on all the aspects of baseball and plug in all the players, this book is a good start.
Not the only source I use for fantasy baseball, but always the first source I go to. So many statistical, analytical and anecdotal gems in this book each year. It is THE resource for anyone who seriously enjoys this ridiculously silly hobby.
Get this book every year for the past 7 years when I was first told about it by a fellow member of SABR (Society of Baseball Researchers) I found that it was a great tool not only for fantasy players but also could be of great value to actual GMs in the real world of MLB.
If you need the charts in this book (which really is the whole reason for buying it) do NOT buy the kindle version. You can't read them. As far as I could tell, they do not have the PDF files posted anywhere for viewing or download so you're stuck with these itty bitty tiny things that an ant couldn't read. I was excited to see it on Kindle, then when I saw that they'd taken no efforts to make it usable, I returned it for a refund. Get the print book, which remains a usable resource, or subscribe to their website. But don't buy the Kindle. It won't work for you.
This book is always the benchmark of excellence for baseball analysts, be they fantasy players or sabremetricians. The player profiles are fun and informative, but the data is in the charts for each player. My one nit is that the authors don't compile a list of players by category such as LIMA. Also, the Portfolio 3 plan has so few players that is does not have pratical value in deep leagues.Nonetheless, do your own research - everyrhing you need is here!
My copy is "intact", by far the best early preparation tool for fantasy baseball.
Have always read this every year it comes out it can be a difficult read but if your into fantasy baseball it's a must have to read before your draft
I love baseball and the sabermetrics and starts of the game. If you are a baseball nerd this is the book for you, excellent Fantasy guide
