My nursing course required the purchase of this textbook. I read the first few pages of the first assigned section, and I haven't read anything in it since then. This book is riddled with spelling and grammatical errors, and is redundant at times, and contradictory at other times. In addition, it has also been blatantly incorrect with its information. Thankfully, this course grade was majorly based on open-book/open-note quizzes, so I never read this atrocious text, and simply used the index during my quizzes.I will be finding a different source to study my maternity and pediatric nursing content from when preparing for the NCLEX.I'm sorry if you are in the same boat I was and are required to use this book.

If I could go below a one star review of this text, I probably would. This textbook is required for my nursing program and I have to say, I am not the least bit pleased with it. It is filled with mistakes, repeat information, and tons of contradictory information. For example, on more than one occasion I have seen the same exact information said in the same way only a few pages apart. Other times, the information on even THE SAME PAGE changes. It will give you a normal value for something like respiration and then two lines down it says something completely different. It is almost as if the authors all wrote different parts of the book, didn't read what the other one wrote, and then nobody edited the book before publishing. It is also oversized as most of the chapters I have read so far have basically been the same chapter reworded. Sad to say I wasted so much money on this book.
The book has so many errors. Same edition, same print of 2 different books have different information. Things are not described in an understandable way. The book is constantly repeating itself. Only purchased because it was a requirement for my course.
Not a bad book, except for the fact that the answers to the end-of-chapter questions are nowhere to be found. Seems like only instructors have access to them- annoying!
A lot of the things in this book are VERY old timey.. As in, they have come up with so many evidence based practice items that makes half this book obsolete. It is not a bad book since I needed it for nursing as a required book, but my teacher tends to use EBP more than this book. Its very heavy, and I believe we could of lived without buying this...
Worst textbook on the face of the planet.
I tried so hard to get through the semester without buying this book but I finally caved in and immediately regretted putting the purchase off. It is so detailed and clear that I had really been missing out by relying on the ATI text and lecture.
