The book wasn't exactly what I was looking for but that maybe why it was titled Dare to Laugh there was not much to laugh about but it does show how you can find joy in the hard times if you trust and lean on Jesus to get you through. I liked where she gave an example of using a boom box to bring music because she did not play the piano. I thought this was great because I often miss out on opportunities to help because I don't know how to do something but sometimes if I thought about it more I could help just do it differently. Part of the print job didn't come out right
I just finished Betty's book and found it so relevant and encouraging for those of us who are "full of years." Betty writes with the voice of someone half her age, a testament to her young-at-heart nature. As I was reading each devotion, a Scripture verse kept coming to mind: "She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come." Proverbs 31:25. Don't miss reading this excellent book written by one of God's excellent women.
I needed something that incouraged and had lots of laughs. Some daily experiences should be mixed in, not dwelled on and on. I understand life is rough, been through it but see good in each day that God gives us. I have put it on a shelf. Just not what I needed.
I was so impressed with Dare to Laugh, it was so enlightening and so true to life. Explains better than any other book I have ever read, how life really is. Elizabeth Van Liere has a wonderful sense of humor, is loved by all and always includes God or Jesus in all she says or does. Was also impressed on how easy it was to read, the larger print, the quality of the paper and book cover, made you feel you can pack it anywhere and it will with-stand the trip.
I had the opportunity to review a preview of Dare to Laugh and found it engaging and hopeful. In this, her second book, Elizabeth Van Liere dares to look life as an aging saint square in the eyes. She acknowledges difficult themes while pointing us back to hope and joy. I think this book is even better than her first, Dare to Live.
