Got this on because the school website was asking for ridiculous prices, was super stoked on how inexpensive it was and went for it. When it arrived I was initially impressed by the condition of the book FROM THE OUTSIDE as there were few markings and looked very promising. Then I opened it and the smell of cat piss nearly knocked me off my seat. I'm not even exaggerating. Once I stopped gagging I flipped through the pages. The information itself is relevant and updated, and the writing is interesting compared to other textbooks where their goal seems to be to lull you to sleep. HOWEVER I expected only a few markings from the previous owner. Nope. The owner(s) previous vandalized the book obscenely in select areas. They highlighted and marked in reckless abandon. The worst part is that they highlighted INCREDIBLY STUPID PARTS including but not limited to: entire pages, entire summaries, double explanations, and chapter titles. I'm disappointed and will have to explain to everyone in my class it wasn't me who did such highlighting. How shameful for me. I'm currently wallowing in semi pity but really should have known better. I'm keeping the book in my closet with a lot of air freshener.

I don't even think they are trying to help you stay awake reading this text. The information is there, but presented in two straight, rarely interrupted, vertical columns of small dry text. Rare pictures or visual data, no study questions as u read the chapter, no indented space down the side of the text, for notes, summaries, or definitions. This is the complete info presented. And that's it. It would be interesting to see themengaging and therefore teaching the student, but I don't think they were trying to do that. They are just presenting the info.

I needed this as a textbook. The text rambles on forever about really unimportant things, gets sidetracked a lot, and is fairly dry. There are some interesting sections, but the ratio doesn't make it a worth-while read. I'd say for every 20 pages, I'd find 3 of them interesting.

THIS BOOK SUCKS!!! I bought this book because it was the required text for UMUC's GVPT280 (Comparative Politics) I have read a lot of textbooks. This book hands down is the driest textbook I have ever read. I love politics, but if this would have been the first class that I had taken I would have switch majors. UMUC there are better books out there. Please pick a different one.

I am a senior Political Science major, taking this class to clean up some core classes. This book it very dry and makes so many references to additional chapters that it is difficult to grasp the material at hand. Very disappointing.

I dont hate the book, but you will find much better comparative politics book other than this.

The book is amazing and glad I got it.

good! As advertised. Thank you.
