I thought I would get a new map, the one I have is a 1998 edition, a lot of roads have changed since then. I was heart broken when I got my new map and it was just like the old one. I know roads that were rerouted 10 years ago and no changes have been made. If you want a up to date map go to Google maps , don't buy this one. I wasted my money. Carl Muller

This atlas is very comprehensive and adds new insight into local geography. My father-in-law lives in remote Cleburne County and visiting is always a challenge to find your way. Even he learned names for the roads he drives that are not posted anywhere but in this volume. The details are wonderful and this provides nearly all necessary maps to navigate the state.

I have several of theses gazetteers that I used when I was in sales and traveling. They are very detailed and show almost every road in an area.My only complaint is that some roads use a name as opposed to a number and it would be helpful if they put name and number on the map. These maps are great for finding access to lakes, rivers and streams for fishermen and hunters.

I would give it a 3.5 if I could. For what it is, it is ok. It is a decent map, but I wish the scale was a little larger and more of the roads showed the names. There were a lot of the road names, in both urban and rural areas aren't named. I think that would be a little more helpful. But all in all, it will get the job done.

If your purpose is just to get through a state on an interstate or other main highway all you need is a regular road atlas. In fact, you probably don't even need that. However, if you're looking to explore a state or need to find out-of-the-way places, then having a gazetteer like the ones DeLorme puts out is essential. This gazetteer is especially useful for a state like Alabama, where part of it is mountainous and none of the roads appear to be laid out in a grid pattern. A few years back when we were planning to spend some time in Alabama, we bought our copy of this gazetteer. I was glad we did. It provided us with several shortcuts that we wouldn't have known about if we hadn't had this gazetteer. And we were able to find places that we otherwise wouldn't have found, such as our brother-in-law's house, which was on a dirt road in the woods several miles away from Andalusia. The gazetteer showed this road, which I couldn't find on any regular road atlas. If you're looking for an out-of-the-way hamlet, a little lake or stream, or some other place not shown on a normal atlas, this is the one for you.

When I searched Alabama Gazetteer, I clicked on a new 2014 edition. Directly underneath this product, I clicked on Used. no where did it mention that the edition wasn't a 2014. in fact, what I revved was a 2006 edition. Disappointed!

This map is not what it is cracked up to be. I would not buy it again. Rand McNally maps are better road maps and some include topo maps. This one http://www..com/McNally-Large-Scale-Atlas-Mcnally/dp/0528013173/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1438879298&sr=1-1&keywords=rand+mcnally+road+atlas+2016and this onehttp://www..com/Rand-McNally-2016-Atlas-Guide/dp/0528013114/ref=sr_1_7?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1438879298&sr=1-7&keywords=rand+mcnally+road+atlas+2016are two of the best.

We have a bunch of these Gazetteers from various states. Nice to have maps with topography if you want to bike or hike new areas, not to mention that they show all roads.
