In its 9th edition, you can feel rest-assured that this is a great book for public speaking. As much as I found this book informative, my real inspiration to find confidence in speaking came from the book "Success Secrets of the Motivational Superstars: America's Greatest Speakers Reveal Their Secrets." Through profiling 15 of the most famous motivational speakers, the author brings out their keys to finding their message and connecting with the audience. I think it would be a great compliment to this textbook.
This book was really good, but it was not the whole "bundle", which I had read that it was. I still had to buy the online codes I needed separately and so I returned this book to buy a cheaper, used version.
Thanks, this book is easy to understand and very informative. I recommend this book for students who want to learn to overcome stage fright in public speaking.
I bought this mostly just for my college class. It is typical for a school book. It gets the point across but I can say I noticed the speeches in the book focused too much on one subject matter. Wish it was more diverse.
I ordered this textbook for a college course in public speaking. I thought that this was a relevant book for the course and I may even hang onto it for future reference. Nice, relevant history on the art of public speaking or "rhetoric".
It did its purpose, but the Author likes to overstate their points a little too much. Some of the sections are a bit verbose, but they get the point across.
I needed this book obviously for my speech class in college. I ordered it earlier this semester & literally received it 2 days later. It came in great condition. I have no complaints. I will be returning it soon as the semester comes to an end but I will be renting books w/ next semester! They're much more cheaper to rent on here then at my campus book store.
The authors of this book are raging democrats and constantly bring up racism. Why is my speech book talking to me about racism and telling me to become a democrat? This book is an absolute joke and I would NEVER recommend it. The only people who would enjoy this book are democrats who want a good laugh.
