A dear friend from the UK send me this book last week and told me that her little girl had learned the alphabet from it in the space of just a few weeks. I tried it on my 3-year-old boy who, up to this point, had not shown any particular interest in letters (even though he has many educational toys that try to teach the alphabet). He loves this book! It is amazing. Nothing had caught his interest before. Now he walks around all day trying to recognize letters. He is doing so well. So funny, that such a simple book can be so effective. I guess you have to see it to believe it, though. One tip: Don't use the letter's name, but only the sound it makes (to start with). This seems a good way to avoid confusion. The "official" name of the letter can be added at a later point. Good luck and enjoy!!!
Our five-year-old grandson (kindergarten) loves this ABC story book! He borrowed a copy from his school library and we read it with him while visiting. He loves the Letter Land names for the letters, such as "Red Robot"! He likes the book so much that we ordered him one of his own from . His book came with an audio CD, which I don't remember being listed in the description.
We just love letter land at our house. We discovered it when it was used at my child's preschool and it has been such a fun way for him to learn his letters and the sounds that they make. We keep buying more
My son's school uses this system for learning to read. We got him the ABC book and some smaller Letterland books to get him interested in reading about 6 months before kindergarten. That didn't work but once he was ready, he loved this book and we read it every night for several weeks. He had his characters memorized right before KG started so I think it was helpful in the end.
What a wonderful product for teaching phonemic awareness. I used this book when teaching Kinders, first and second graders. The best program I have seen in thirty years of teaching.
