For me, this book is really helpful for step families. Step parenting is a sensitive issue because there are a lot of things and feelings that needs to be considered. Also, step parenting is a very difficult task for everybody and most experience great stress. In a way, this book can help alleviate all the negativities brought about by this unique situation because it provides tips and effective strategies on how to become successful on step parenting and building a new family. One thing I also love about this book is the bonus chapter that discusses the biggest mistakes done by step parents. Knowing these mistakes can give step parents an idea of what not to do to prevent further complications in the situation. With the quality of information this book contains, I highly recommend it to everybody.
I have been in a step family since high school. And it has been tough dealing with my stepfather. Little did I know, they too had a hard time dealing with the step family. What I love about this book is that the author was able to explain some common scenarios when in a step family. The tips and the do's and don'ts discussed are helpful, especially if I got to read this book way back. But overall, this is a good read, especially those who are in a step family.
Getting a second chance at love is a great blessing. One must always keep in mind though that when two previously married people marry again, there is always that challenge of blending in with each other's previous kids.This book provides helpful information on what one might expect from stepchildren. It includes the typical reaction of children from varying ages. Also there are steps and suggestions on how to become a better stepparent; like not overstepping your role vs that of the biological mother, establishing connection first before attempting to instill discipline ( how to discipline should be talked over first with the biological parent) etc.Quite a helpful book if you need a psychological, practical boost to starting the role of becoming a stepparent.
I purchased this book for a friend who is struggling to adjust with her new blended family.The book is really a good guide for her and will give her some light on how to get along with her step children. Her situation is not easy, as what I understood on the discussions in this book.She has to compromise some things for the harmony of her new found family. This book will help resolve some issues that most step parents have come across when trying to cope and adjust with a blended family.A useful book in my opinion.
To be a stepparent is a very difficult thing. The kids are stubborn and they don't accept you easily. I need something to help me. I bought this book with low expectations, but the book delivered a solid information. First you need to understand the expectations in blended families. you need to have a very good understanding behavior. The most important thing is to prioritise your marriage. Family comes first. This book has a great value and it is a wonderful gift. The style of the book is great and easy. It is a fantastic book.
Candidly, I am neither a stepparent nor a stepchild. But, why did I get this book? The primary reason for this is because I want to understand why there are prevailing conflicts among stepparents and stepchildren. And true to what I expected from this book, I now clearly understand why. There must be some kind of guidelines that need to be addressed in establishing harmony for a relationship like this. All these things are discussed in this book.
For kids, adopting the idea that they will have a stepparent may really be hard. They either be rebellious because they don't want the person or just keep this unacceptance to their self which might lead to depression. Anyone who wants to pursue being a stepparent should learn the proper approach on how to be one. This book might be a good help to anyone who wants to do that. Listed in here are various guidelines that will hone anyone to be fit in a stepparent role. Tips as well as techniques were provided in here that will help you to get their trust. I am not a stepparent or a stepchild but having this book helped me realize the various aspects that should be considered along the way. Good read.
