This is one of four books in a series of beginning texts for ESL. It is clearly presented and easy for the students to understand and use. The emphasis is on grammar and vocabulary taught through conversation. There is not much in the way of reading, writing, or cultural studies. It is my understanding that this edition is no longer in print and has been replaced by a new and improved Side by Side.
I absolutely LOVE all books by Molinsky. If you follow the methodics offered by the author, the results are the greatest. I have been teaching English for many years, and I went through a lot of textbooks. Molinsky's books are the greatest if you want your students to get the fastest results in speaking and communicating. The books also save time in preparation for the class.
I used this book, in early 80's, as a kid in the remote Himalayan area of Northern India. I love this book. I highly recommend this book to anyone, particularly beginners, who has the interest to improve his/her English grammar. Words are important but grammar is essential.
I love this book! I've been using it with my students for 10 years.
It's good concept to teach english, but it is pricey.
Students are enjoying the updated version.
