Great idea, collecting so many Buddhist Sutras into one book but unfortunately the translations used are old, public domain documents from the late 1800's and available at Sacred-texts.com. Translators like Max Müller were not Buddhist and possessed only a passing knowledge of the material they were translating so the footnotes must be taken with a grain of salt and further they largely worked only from Sanskrit manuscripts which further distances this work from living Buddhism. Plus if you want something easily accessible, you might want to look further; these guys never said with one or two words anything that could be stretched out to ten or fifteen.
I've been searching for a collection of well-known Sutras for some time and this collection is excellent. Not exactly a page-turner for reading, but so much rich information that comes to us in the present day from the past. I'm not a Buddhist myself, but I still find that there is considerable wisdom in the Sutras.
Very clear and illuminating translations of some very well known classic Buddhist texts.
These are the sutras, the most important ones to deal with if you are a student of Eastern Thinking, mainly Buddhism. I really like the format and that they are in just one volume.
Gives you lots to think about and meditate on. Good life lessons.
Good overview of the major Sutras. Fine reference text as well.
