Can I get my money back?This is not a true e-book. There are no options for enlarging the text without loosing pagination, and the text is tiny--reading glasses are no help. Zooming with finger motions breaks the page into tiles. Search function is extremely limited--I searched for "window" and "ventana" wasn't in any of the results, which seemed to be rather random.Essentially, this book is worthless to me.
This dictionary/translation guide has almost every word I could possibly need, so I love that aspect of it. Every time I go to the book to reference something, it is there...MARVELOUS. The only reason I chose four as opposed to five stars is that the verb guide in the center of the book is not quite as user-friendly as I had anticipated. I am able to use the book and guide without difficulty, but there are some students in my class that struggle with the guide. I think the guide is more helpful for those that have a decent grasp on the conjugation of Spanish verbs than for those who my already struggle with Spanish grammar, including but not limited to verb conjugation.
This dictionary just didn't cut it for me. Besides not having many of the words I tried to find, it doesn't tell you if a word is masculine or feminine in the English side. For example, if you look up "water" you will find "aguá" but you will need to look up agua in the Spanish side to find out that it is masculine.Another thing that bothered me is that it didn't have any examples to distiguish words of completely different meanings. for example "to leave"... it could be to leave a place (salir) or to leave something behind (dejar). good luck trying to get the right meaning with this book
This may be a comprehensive dictionary but it fails the quality test in my book. First, the print is way too small. Not the case with our older now tattered version of this book. Second, the publisher/printer must have been saving on ink as the print is also very faint/light. That along with the smaller type made it unusable by me. Unfortunately, I carried it to Mexico before realizing the severity of these limitations. I cannot return it from here so will donate it to the local community center. Maybe some younger eyes will have success.
I bought the paper version of this and use it a lot in my work (I'm a writer), used it for a few months with lots of success, and then bought the e-version because I thought it would be faster. It isn't. I can find the words more quickly by hand in the paper version (and not have to toggle between programs on my computer). I have a complaint: the entries are reduced in the e-version, giving you limited options. However, the price difference is pretty big. If you want the best, then buy the paper version ($35) at a B&N or other bookstore. Few reviewers can actually compare the two versions. I can and did and wish I could return this e-product to get a refund. I bought it on impulse when I didn't need to.However, for probably 99% of users, this will be exactly what they expect and need. I personally like to look at three or four variations of a word, in the Eng-Span section and in the Span-Eng section, using multiple fingers and 3by5 cards until I find the exact word.The BEST thing about this dictionary is the numerous real-life examples of phrases, similar phrases, common usages, etc for so many entries. Excellent explanations.
A great dictionary that's been revised and updated. I learned Spanish many years ago in High School; and want to update my knowledge. This book helps very much in my review of the language. Highly recommended!
As an advanced beginner in Spanish, I definitely needed some extra help, This supplied the help I need. The dictionary is clear and easy to use. It contains a vary of words including bad words. :D I recommend this book to English and/or Spanish learners.
I have always used this book in my class. It is an easy book to look up words and it helps the E.S.L. student with their vocabulary lessons and written sentences. Each of my students have this book and they like it very much.
