The book get thiner and thiner compared with previous editions because they put more and more chapters online at accesspharmacy. I bought the book because I wanna read the real book, the printed chapters are really good and well organized make the reading experience pretty enjoyable, while the online part annoy me. You have to click to read each figure and table, which I believe more important than words... Overall, it is OK but since you cannot carry it easily anyway, why not make the reading experience better by printing all of the chapters into the book?
I don't understand putting the first 25 chapters online. You are only saving about 50 pages, which isn't much considering how thin and cheap the pages are. You want to save on pages, put the references online. That can save between 300-400 pages.
The complete version is finally available on kindle! This includes tables and graphics and looks great on my iPad and Kindle Paperwhite!
This is a great book. It summarizes everything nicely. The textbook itself is huge, but chapters are a reasonable 20 pages on average and flows quite nicely compared to other medical based textbooks I've read.The information in here is mostly a summary. You are not getting full fledged details, rather you are getting the essential information required in properly treating and monitoring various conditions.
I've been out of pharmacy school for about 20 years. It helps me keep up with all the changes in the treatment of most common disease states.
Bought this Kindle book as a requirement for nurse practitioner school at NYU. Good for learning how to prescribe and who to prescribe to. Poor for actually trying to understand molecular action of drugs and pathways. For mechanisms of action and physiology, I used Lippincott Illustrated Reviews: Pharmacology 6th ed.Also the Kindle edition DOES NOT HAVE PAGE #s!! Very difficult to follow along if the prof assigns certain pages.
This is an amazing book. Very detailed and well organized!
Before you buy, realize this textbook still contains JNC-7 guideliines not the current JNC-8 making it severely out of date on hypertension guidelines. Given this information I would try to hold out for the 10th edition, which I hope would be coming out soon. I will probably be returning mine.
