I'm a physician assistant student and I bought Current as a reference during my clinical year. Yesterday my preceptor told me that I had impressed him so much with my concise knowledge of diseases that he was going to recommend this text to all future students he encounters. Basically, I'm really glad I bought this book! It's almost everything I need to know, and it's presented in an easy to read format.
I semi-retired due to illness and came back.....but in an office without Wi-Fi or good computer speed(rural)..New information is mandatory in any practice. This book is chalk full of good discussions, diagnosis, treatment of most problems in primary care. It has over 1100 pages...My first copy had 600...Yikes....That is why it so hard to be a Primary Care Provider any more. There is information overload.....and another reason 40% of Residencies were left empty in Primary Care/back to the trenches I love.
I really like having this book in paper. My school offers it online but I like having it to look at, highlight it etc. It's bigger than I realized (3" thick) but it provides a great overview of the disease process and treatment options. Very helpful as a new NP.
the book is amazing as always.have been buying it the last 4 years!!the problem is with the kinddle edition that some tabells are very small and you can make them big enough to read.they should fix this!
except for the page number issue (which i hope they will resolve soon) CMDT for kindle is the best decision i made in recent times. i get access to my book anywhere everywhere and across all my devices!... thumbs up!
I'm a PA studying for recertification and using this text in conjunction with several others. Very easy to read and a lot easier to understand and apply than many. If it weren't so bulky I would take it with me to clinic when I work at different locations. I know I could get the Kindle version, and will actually consider it, just so I can have it as a reference.
Great book compiling pathophysiology, diagnosis, and treatment of major health conditions sorted by systems (ENT, Pulmonary, Cardio, Orthopedics...) This book is a good general basis for any clinical medicine but they also have other editions for more specialized medicine (Geriatrics, Pediatrics, OB/GYN...) Excellent reference book for medical providers and students.
Needed a new updated version. This arrived in a timely fashion and was a great price. While it is not 2016 current, it does give good information and better than my 1992 edition. I know that the internet has access to most of this information but I do like having a hard copy as I can browse the index if I am not sure what the name is that I am hunting for. Not so easy when you are doing a computer search where it is important that you enter the correct term for what you are hunting for. Good general reference book.
