my all time favorite reference for clinical medicine. Find the chief complaint in an alphabetized and intuitive format, see epidemiology, risk factors, history clues, differential diagnoses, labs and results, treatment options (with dosage), patient education, and other pearls in two pages. I used an older version on a ship as a USN Hospital Corpsman, and it got us through an entire deployment without a nurse, NP/PA or MD for hundreds of miles. I now am using it as a PA student. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
This book is wonderful. I find that it is easy to access what I need and I use it more often than I do my Merck Manual. I purchased the hard copy of the book and do like the online access as well. With our EMR changeovers it is easier for me to use the hard copy because I don't want to switch screens. It makes me review cases and conditions that I have not used in a few years because I scan the pages as I seek my own cases. I oversee other clinicians and I use the book for so many "look-ups" just to stay on top of new treatments and medications that are being prescribed by other physicians. Shopping on  gives me so much more in selection than I could get anywhere. At least it works for me. Good investment and I consider a bargain. Samiam.
As a new grad physician assistant, I refer to this book every day. My SP even consults it occasionally. There are some zebras that you can't find, but all in all it is really helpful for refreshing some of the details that didn't stick with me from school. Keeper.
This is getting me through my first few months as a FNP. It's great to have a quick refresher and it's had everything in it that I've needed to look up so far.I will probably be keeping one of these around and getting an updated version every few years.I do wish they would somehow separate some of the information a little better but it's really not bad the way it is....they just might could figure out some way to make it even easier (separate colors?? Bigger headings?? I dunno).
Very nicely laid out. Easy to read and easy to look up information. It is quick go to reference and I like to perils and teaching with full considerations that are given. It does not include detail, but does touch on testing, presentation of symptoms, prevalence of disease process, indications, etc. I would recommend it to anyone just starting out in practice.
BUY this!! This is an awesome resource. It displays many diagnosis with concise data about everything from epidemiology to imaging, treatment, and follow-up. Each diagnosis takes up 2 pages and it's all displayed for you to look over quickly.
Updated: I purchased the kindle version and I'm so glad to see this option is becoming more and more available. However, they need to find a better way to quickly find what your looking for. I found it harder to use and returned for a hard copy. I'm very happy at the quick service to exchange. Wish the digital was easier to use. The book is cumbersome but an amazing reference! I am sure to use it often in my career as new NP.
I've used various additions of this book throughout my FNP career. I'll never use another reference.
