As an ED attending at a busy teaching institution, I've noticed that many of our residents carry this book and they all rave. I've flipped through their copies and notice that it's user-friendly and sorted by diagnosis, which is convenient. Still have to buy one - it seems like a great pocket guide for the new ED resident or a handy resource for the experienced physician.

For context, I'm a medical student. This book crams a lot of high yield information into its small footprint, but manages to do so without overwhelming you like "Pocket Medicine" for those of you familiar with that book :). The diagrams, tables, and charts do a great job of facilitating this efficient presentation of key information. This is a book you can definitely use on-the-go when seeing and working up patients in the emergency department. I actually also found it to be great on your internal medicine rotation too as a kick-starter to your brainstorming. I'm not a resident yet but from what I've observed, It's probably too basic for a 2nd or 3rd year ED resident because it doesn't delve into the nuances of management; but I imagine it's helpful for a 1st year.

As an EM PGY-2, this pocketbook continues to be a solid foundation in developing your differential and determining what key actions to perform. Specifically, I think this is particularly helpful for 4th-year medical students and EM Interns in guiding their thought process and subsequent actions. The Pearls, and Documentation are all icing on the cake. Strong work!

BesT Quick Reference I've Seen For The ED. The Other Poster Suggesting This Is All Rigged Has Obviously Not Even Read This Reference Guide Or He'll See Why Every Review Is A 5 Star Review. This BookLet Deserves It !!! Whoever Did Made This Is A Genious At Grabbing What's Absolutely ImpoRtanT To Solve A Problem. I'll Buy Every How To Book They Put out

THis book is so handy and straight forward. There is nothing else like it out there. I used it during residency and now as an attending I refer to it and teach PA's with it. Great resource for the real slimmed down info that you need to function properly in the ED.

As a 3rd year ER resident in NYC, I wish I would have had this guide at the beginning of residency. The organization of this book has allowed me to easily grasp the "big picture" of emergency medicine, while also providing me the with the details that help me now as a senior resident. The cover acts like a table of contents, with just one page per chief complaint, so it's quicker to use and more user-friendly than other larger guides. It provides a quick and easy way to find all the information you need-- essential for learning in the midst of a busy shift in the ER. Hands down, this reference guide will benefit all ER trainees.

This guide has been a lifesaver for many residents already--and it just came out! It is so user friendly, it flows exactly the same way the mind flows in the busy ED; highlighting the pearls and the essential points, all well organized with great graphics. I have seen many residents pulling it out of their pocket to refer to it on a regular basis. Thin and lightweight, it is great to have in your pocket and thumb through when waiting in line in the cafeteria or post office.

Best value per oz for the 4th year med student. Fits in your pocket. Nice to glance at before going in a patient's room. Has many of the major chief complaints for adult ED patients.
