I really wanted a hard copy of the e-book included with the Kaplan course in order to highlight and take notes but was hesitant to order it based on the previous review that this book was different. After struggling with the decision for a few days, I finally decided to go for it and I am very glad I did! It is the exact same as the e-book included in the Kaplan NCLEX course, which is extremely helpful! For those of you who have not taken the Kaplan course, this book basically breaks down the most essential information from various textbooks and organizes it into the structure of the NCLEX test. I have found it considerably helpful in reviewing material for the NCLEX and definitely recommend this book for content review! That being said, this book is strictly a content review guide - it does not include any NCLEX-style practice questions or tests.
This helped me passed the NCLEX on the first try. I used other resources, so I don't recommend just going through this book to prepare for the NCLEX. The topics were not in the same order as the content videos (if you paid for a Kaplan course then you know what I am talking about). I couldn't even find some of the topics in this book that were in the content video library. Also, there were a lot of misspelled words, so I felt like someone just printed off their pdf study guide and started selling this.
I bought this to help me study for the NCLEX, but I have the older version (Blue book). I compared the two and there wasnt much of a difference. I didn't even bother to use any of these books. I've heard this book wasn't as helpful either, except filled with too much info that wasn't related to the questions on the Kaplan NCLEX review & the actual NCELX itself. I ended up returning this and just kept the old version in case I needed to review some areas
Like the review and reading at my leisure. Only complaint is the size of my kindle didn't accommodate all of the charts, so I had to swipe back and forth. Otherwise the charts, formats, an information were direct. I'm sure it helped because I recognized teaching points I had seen in questions. The questions and rationales made more sense after reading this.
Although contains a lot of info, it does not compare to saunders content review guide. In Kaplan content guide, can be difficult to find what you need in index, and little depth of explanations within the book. Saunders helps tie the content together in a comprehensive way with pictures, pyramid points etc. not a bad purchase, just much better to refer to saunders
For what you pay it should come with the course. Not everyone is good at reading on their computer.
great book for NCLEX preparation.
This book is much easier to use than the online version that came with my Kaplan course. It is fairly easy to follow. The book is probably about two inches thick.
