This is mostly advanced stuff, but if you have this, study it well before you need it. It comes with a CD, and it's a big, thorough book. Very handy!
Great resource, easy to read and comprehensive guide for Navy Hospital Corpsmen.
The book itself is made out of some pretty high quality materials. I picked this book up for a TCCC course and though we didn't need the book or use it directly (had good instructors) it is filled with very good information. The main difference between this and the standard PHTLS book is the extra material that is more military/police centric. Over all its worth picking this up over the standard PHTLS book. Its also well worth having for anyone who is interested in prehospital trauma care.
While the NAEMT Contributors did their customary thorough work putting together the 7th Ed...there have already been many significant additions and changes to TCCC that are not discussed in this edition...which is why I recommend waiting for the next issue which should be shortly.I also think it makes a lot more sense, if NAEMT is going to offer separate courses and course manuals for civilian vs "military" PHTLS, rather than repeating the majority of material in both the civilian and military courses and course books (i.e. the first 20 chapters), they should convert "military" PHTLS into a "Tactical" PHTLS course/course book and design it primarily for use by both the military and federal, state and local law enforcement--along the lines of Tactical Medicine Essentials.If they do that, they could also shorten Tactical PHTLS considerably by deleting the A&P from the military-tactical course and keeping that subject matter in the civilian PHTLS course/course book.
If you've gone through TCCC or a Live Tissue course and want to get a little more in-depth in some areas or just simply want a refresher.
