I bought this book for my Grandfather for Christmas and he loved it! Cant wait for him to fill it out and give it back to me.
This is a delightful book to offer to Grandchildren at the occasion of their birth or in subsequent years. It has blocks for great information that is both fun and great history. My only reason for giving it the lower score is that the binding is not a good quality, and if this is for posterity....it should last. Otherwise, a great gift for parents and kids alike.
How in hell is one supposed to write on heavily inked glossy paper? A great idea; poorly executed. Fun to read but you'll have to use the book (not as a gift) as an outline for your own transcriptions on separate media.
I saw all the great reviews about this book. I was excited, when I received it looked very cheap, I got another version for grandmothers and it looks so pretty for around the same price, this book is not the book I want my father in-law to write his memories on. Straight return.
I bought this book for my dad as he has brain cancer and was given a year to live. I thought it would be a nice momento for him to pass down to the grandkids. I think too, it gives him something to do other than thinking of his prognosis. I ended up buying one for my husband's dad and mom (they is a grandmother's version too), my mom, and my grandma (the kids' great grandma). They were all xmas presents. It is such a great idea. It will be something that I will treasure as well as my kids and their future kids.
The recipient of this gift really enjoyed receiving it and showed me some of the completed pages. Prior to gifting, I suggest adding good quality felt tip writing pens in different colors.
It is a very nice book, exceeding my expectations. I ordered it for my mom. She received a Grandmother book from niece to complete and was asked to do the same for my dad. The Grandfather book is much more detailed and will be a wonderful momento.
I love these books. But that is me as the person who doesn't have to fill them in and rather the person waiting to get it back. My dad loved getting it from my daughter, although he still works and runs his own company, so to get the time to fill it in has been somewhat bothersome for him. So I guess that is something to take into consideration when buying something like this. What was funny though, it asked "What's your favorite kind of music" My dad listed: Classical, Jazz, Opera, Pop. As an 81 year old German Sea Captain, Pop music had me gasp! Growing up he would tell us to turn down that horrible music. So I was amazed that after all of these years he now has started to listen to Pop music. I asked him about it and he answered, "But of course! I love the Boston Pops"...yep. That made more sense...
