This book is comprehensive for the practitioner. Previous reviews have commented on it being too advanced for students, which is particularly disagreeable; this text has both rudimentary concepts as well as advanced pharmacological considerations useful for general practitioners, interns, residents, and specialists alike. There are not many "pearls" or "bullet-point" reviews within the text, but this book is not a CliffsNotes for veterinary pharmacology... it is, quite possibly, the standard of knowledge for veterinary pharmacology. In addition, there are several charts within the book that takes much of the guesswork out of daily clinical pharmacologic decision making. The copies (plural) of this book are dog-eared and used multiple times daily in my practice amongst myself and other practitioners who want to practice comprehensive, evidence-based medicine. No veterinary practice and (especially) no veterinary ICU should go without this reference for learning and practice.
I bought this for a course in vet school and picked it up only a handful of times. It is written in long form, no bullet points or short summaries. I would recommend it for someone in an internal medicine residency or pursuing further studies in clinical pharmacology. I would not recommend this for the beginning vet student or practitioner. The information isn't bad, but beyond what is useful for day-to-day practice, and not readily accessible.
the book is just as difficult to follow as her lectures. it's just all over the place. also full of contradictions.
Love this book!
