This is the Literature for Composition: An Introduction to Literature (10th Edition). I used this book for my English Composition Class the second part. I looked around online for the cheapest alternative to rent a book for this class. I found the cheapest on . I saved about $20 more just by renting with . For those complaining of the condition of the book I don't think it's fair this is a USED RENTAL it's not going to be brand new or spiffy as long as it gets the job done and does not impede you from passing class and is not like falling apart at the seams there should be no problem. The book came in fair condition. I keep in mind that this book has probably been used and flipped through by countless other students as well. In terms of content it's an English book the pieces of Literature that the authors chose were mostly either weird, or depressing and trust me I appreciate literature.
It arrived in okay condition for a rental, some bending and creasing of the pages. If your class turns out anything like mine, though, you'll just end up reading about two dozen of the stories and poems inside it, ALL of which are available for free online somewhere, Google them. Otherwise, our English Comp II class didn't use the book for anything else, I'd recommend not getting it and just using the internet.
This book was purchased because I needed it for a college class. It is very hard to read and the pages are so thin and delicate it is hard to turn pages without tearing or them sticking to one another! It made doing work difficult. Very limited information on MLA style writing also.
The book was as advertised. Pages were not torn in any way with no highlights or writing as far as I can tell. The book is appr. 1500 pages and if you know how thin a bibles pages are then these are possibly thinner. Think tissue paper with writing on it. You must be gentle when turning the page. Not s fault just a an issue with how it was made.
The content of the book is just outstanding!I bought this book for English Composition class, and it improved my writing tenfold!I highly recommend this Book for college purposes!
I generally enjoy the text books for literature put out by these editors. Although the format of this one is more complicated than others I have used, the editors continue to make good choices about including quality works and to provide compelling conversation and exercises to go along. I have used multiple literature books as a student and as a teacher and those provided by these editors are the best for contemporary, introductory literature classes.
Purchased this book brand new and it was damaged when received. The pages were folded inward, The cover was bent and frayed on the bottom. I feel if this was wrapped with bubble wrap or any kind of protective wrapping inside the cardboard this damage could have been prevented.
I love books but I don't like spending over $100 on one. This is a good textbook, it came in mint condition and all but the pages are extremely thin and as a book lover it pains me to think of accidentally ripping one even when I am trying to be gentle while reading it.
