Although I would have preferred that the chapter titles did not give away the answers, this book has a lot of quality cases covering a wide variety of neurosurgical topics. It is my favorite review book so far. It can easily be viewed on a phone or tablet and each chapter is short enough to cover in 15 minutes or less.
This is great resource that contains a lot of the fundamental information that a neurosurgery resident/staff needs to know in order to pass the oral boards (both the ABNS and the Royal College Exam. The book is written by specialist in a variety of disciplines, mainly neurosurgeons, vascular surgeons, neurologists and radiologists from several different countries, but primarily the US and Canada. The purpose is primarily to provide a broad overview of cases for neurosurgery residents/ fellows/ junior faculty. The content can also be very helpful to academic neurosurgeons engaged in teaching activities, physicians from variable specialties, medical students, and other health care professionals involved in the fields of Neurosurgery. Many of the authors are authorities in the field and have targeted the material to review essential components as they relate to each topic or "case".The book is well organized in a comprehensive fashion covering Cranial Neurosurgery cases, Spine, Peripheral Nerve and Neurology. Each section is subdivided into relevant subsections. Over 100 cases are all very well illustrated with multiple scans and images as well as some art that is helpful to understand the key concepts. They are organized in a point form fashion, with about 10 questions or so below the scans and then, the 10 answers in the following pages. Format is great for preparation for oral Q&A.Overall assessment: This is a an indispensable source for the oral boards. It has a great amount of high yield information. I would strongly, NO QUESTION, recommend it!! Happy readings. You will enjoy.
This is a great book for quickly reviewing cases to prepare for rounds or the boards.I found it very helpful to study certain concepts in neurosurgery. The presentation format is very user friendly. It is easy to read and contains lots of information about several key cases that tend to come back often during testing. It is definately a must have!
