Purchased this book for a class in my master's of translation program. Contains perspectives on the work of translation and translation theory from a wide range of translators. Great resource for new and established translators. The book is organized by time periods, beginning with historical foundation statements through essays written in the 2000s.

This reader is now canonical in the field. It contains carefully edited selections from key historical writings on the subject of translation and translation theory. The first chapter is broadly historical, followed by six chapters on the 20th century, and a final chapter looking into the 21st century.

This book is an interesting read, although if you're not a translation major or otherwise extremely interested in the field you will probably be bored to tears. Just a word of warning. The book is well-organised and explores many different theories of translation.
