Classic text, well written, fairly dense, comprehensive. The newer sections in this edition are welcome, but feel a little reserved. More concrete examples would be welcome. On the other hand, there is still relatively little written about some of the aspects of literary translation that the author covers, and she is a major authority. The book belongs in the library of anyone interested in the history and theory of translation.
A good general introduction. Good for beginning graduate students.
