This is the "Bible" of all military men since 1905. Von Clausewitz sets down every thing needed to "run a war", although his writing (like all German) is somewhat stilted. His message is a simple one --don't start a war unless you are prepared to finish it--completely. In other words, NO RULES OF ENGAGEMENT! He stresses the rules of war of which there are two--#1. There are NO rules! #2. See Rule #1! The book I received was in excellent condition despite being paperback. Great buy and fast delivery.
Most older writing is excessively "wordy " by today's standards. However, this is a classic and worth the read.
This is an indispensable reference work for anyone interested in political-military philosophy
