If you plan on taking the FP-C, CCP-C, CEN, CCRN, or CFRN, look no further. This is the study guide for you. It hits all the core topics of these exams. It is written in a way that is easy to follow. It has excellent review questions though out. It also has rationale for the correct and incorrect answers of those questions. It has tons of wonderful illustrations. If you are just beginning in your critical care career, this will give you a complete framework for what will be expected of you. If your working toward an advanced cert, this book is a must have. I look at it daily just to keep up what I've learned and refresh myself on things I may have forgotten. I have also had the pleasure of sitting thru FlightBridgeED's review course that is associated with this text. It is second to none. They go over everything so thoroughly. They take time to answer any and every question that they are asked. I'm definitely going be a repeat customer.
It is very clear that a lot of work and research went in to building the author's PowerPoint presentation and very little into the production of this book. The book is simply an outline of the slides that go with his review class. The two products combine, I am certain are a great review for the exam, but this is not a stand alone book. I will say that it serves as excellent outline for the reader that is looking to do research and "self-teach". Its a great skeleton, but little flesh.
This text is an all-encompassing review for the critical care transport provider, that puts topic is an easy to understand and easy to absorb format. The text moves through vital topics that are relevant to the body of knowledge that has come to be the expected scope of understanding. The authors do a wonderful job of keeping on task the important points, while not going to far into the "weeds". This text is exceptional on its own, or as an adjunct to the FlightbrideED two-day course, which is also a spectacular learning opportunity. Well done!!
Eric Bauer- I love your podcasts. This book has great content, but I'd rather have a book I can pick up and read, rather than feel like I am looking at someone's notes from a lecture. If the book came with a matched podcast, that would have been fantastic. There are just too many podcasts to dig through to find the one that matches the chapter.
Thanks for Eric's podcast's and book I passed my FP-C with room to spare!Sign up for the podcasts, they provide a great review of clinically important concepts and are an awesome leaning tool for both new and experienced critical care and prehospital providers.
Way too overpriced, good for group study which is how FP-C should be tackled at any rate, pictures are somewhat ambiguous and poor done. I rated 5 stars because someone obviously put alot of work into this and there are not many simplified, guideline style options out there for FP-C.
I have been in EMS for 17 years and in the ever changing world of emergency medicine, its nice to have resources available to help sort it out. This textbook is one of those tools. I found this book to be a fantastic review of pathophysiology and an incredible way to refresh those lesser used but important topics critical to flight medicine. This book is also extremely helpful for those that work in the ground ambulance arena. If you have plans to up your game as a paramedic or RN, I would highly recommended this book.
I have studied several different review books for the CFRN. This one is by far the easiest to work through. It encompasses every subject that you need to be familiar with for the CFRN. Eric does a great Jon with the question and rationale section. I would recommend this book and the review class to anyone wanting to obtain their advance certification. I believe this book would be a great tool to help you pass your CFRN/ FP-C , and use as a reference in your air medical profession.
