Court of Nightfall is about Scarlett Night, an eighteen-year-old, colorblind girl with big dreams of becoming an airplane pilot. Her life changes suddenly when her parents reveal that they have been working with the Church Vianney since before she was born and that they are in danger because they have been protecting a weapon that could destroy mankind. When danger strikes before the weapon can be moved, she loses everything and is thrust into a world she doesn't understand. In order to avenge her parents, she must trust carefully and protect the innocent at all costs. The story did flow wonderfully, however.I would recommend Court of Nightfall to older teens and adults that enjoy paranormal-fantasy and science-fiction novels.Overall, I am deeply impressed by the first book in this new series by Karpov Kinrade. I went in with different expectations of what I would find only to have my mind blown. Scarlett is easily one of my favorite characters from any of their works, period. She is so down-to-earth and so real. It was hard letting the book end. I wish I could have prolonged it and enjoyed the story for longer. I can't wait for the next in this series. As always, the author duo Karpov Kinrade does not disappoint. I love the raw urgency they injected into this story. It really puts the reader right into the action and leaves them hanging from the edge of their seat in desperation and suspense. Absolute writing genius!
MIND BLOWN! Best way to start out my review of Court of Nightfall 1: The Last Nephilim by author Karpov Kinrade. I must admit, this is my first review for this husband/wife duo and it will most definitely NOT be my last. I have fallen HOOK LINE AND SINKER into their world.Scarlett thinks her life is pretty ordinary. Her bff Jax shares her dream of becoming a pilot. The only issue, Scarlett can only see in black and white. This was a birth defect that she was born with and has never seen color. She has worked her whole life to figure out how to pass her pilot's test. Thinking it is just another day, she takes her test and anxiously awaits the results. Once she gets home, life as she knows it takes a different turn. Suddenly becoming a pilot and getting her license is no longer important. Running for her life and realizing her whole life has been a lie slightly overshadows that fact that she may not live to get the answers she desperately needs.I am not doing this review justice. There is SO much to this story that I am leaving out because anyone that knows me, I do not ever include spoilers. You have just read this book. If you love a great story, betrayal, intense action, government betrayal, incredible technology, a world that is not of the one we live on now...THIS IS THE BOOK FOR YOU! I would not call this book science fiction, maybe a little dystopian but not really. I just call it FAN FREAKING TASTIC!
OK, I have to preface this review with the fact that I detest dystopian fiction. Honestly hate it with a passion. Huger Games was something I just couldn't get into, and the movie was just horrible.Let me explain. I don't personally like caste systems, and the horror that happens to the "lower class" in all dystopian fiction. It makes me want to hurl, and in most fiction the writing doesn't draw me in enough to want to continue reading the horrors of the masses. Then came Court of Nightfall. I'm a member of the Dark Templars on Facebook. If you want to be a member too, CLICK HERE to fill out their form to be considered. And knowing the works of this author, I figured I'd give the dystopian thing a try, and they've swayed me.Karpov Kinrade has blown me away. Granted there were still caste systems and horrible things happening to just normal everyday people, but they made me really care. The characters are written with such heart and soul that you believe that they can make a difference. You want to keep cheering them on from page to page, and chapter to chapter. And before you know it you're at the end of the book going, "WTF, I never saw that coming!"They are able to weave webs finer than the best spider, and before you know it you're trapped and reading till the wee hours of the morning wanting to know if Scarlett is going to make a difference, if Jax is going to be there right beside her, and if the hope Scarlett holds so close to her heart is going to be enough. And each and every question is answered with a full attention to detail and a way that tugs at your heartstrings. The authors have made dystopian fiction as readable as any beloved novel. One you'll want to come back to time and time again. Bravo, dear authors, bravo.
I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review. So this book was amazing scarlet is my favorite by far. Scarlet is color blind but yet very head strong. I love the plot of this story about a girl that was color blind got sucked in to a battle that was not hers but yet now she will be finishing it. The updated version of this book was even better the second time around. Completely blew my mind on how she changed things up I'm very glad that she did. Karpov is a awesome writer and everything she has ever written I have loved and I am very picky about my books. There is one thing that I will tell you I really hate cliffhangers and I knew there was one when I started to read it normally if I don't have the whole series I won't read it, but this was just to good of a book to not read it right away. This book is awesome and if you like Karpov kinrade's books then you are going to want to read this one. THIS IS A MUST READ PLEASE BUY IT YOU WON'T REGRET IT.
