Buried Memory, a Harbinger, P.I. novelby Adam J. WrightAgain, Wright delivers a really fun paranormal read. Alec Harbinger, preternatural investigator, and his friends, Mallory, Felicity, Leon and Mallory are back. This time around, the lovely Deputy Amy Cantrell, daughter of Sheriff Cantrell, has hired Alec to discover what caused three dead and buried corpses, one of whom was her mother, to crawl out of their graves. The answer involves the box that Alec sent to himself from Paris, an act of which he has no memory. The discovery of what the box actually is, and a summons from his father to return to London, will bring to light both a deadly threat to the survival of the human race, and exactly what memories are locked away behind that magical door in Alec's mind. The race is on to defeat the paranormal enemy and to unlock Alec's past.Wright continues to write engagingly, crafting a well plotted and paced story. The characters are interesting and nicely fleshed out. The editing in this book is very good; I found only two errors, first a singular where a plural was needed and second an omitted word. I loved the visual when Alec describes his father's attire as including a deerstalker hat such as that worn by Sherlock Holmes, and then follows that up just a bit later with having the father say to Alec "The game is afoot."Again, no cliffhanger ending, which is a plus to me. However, like in the last novel, this one ends with a new problem cropping up. So, the novel really doesn't qualify as stand alone, either. Mr. Wright, your characters and storytelling are excellent. You do not need to resort to starting your next book as the end of the previous. Readers will want to read your work on the strength of that work.
