This book kept my interest I couldn't put it down. I think this was the best book of the series so far. All the books are great but so much went on in this book that I found myself reading hundreds of pages a day. I would recommend this series to anyone who enjoys a that includes magic and likes well rounded characters. It also builds on the feeling of the main characters.
This is another excellent read in the story of Alexander, the Sovereign of the Seven Isles. Was very difficult to put down as this epoch fantasy moved along at a fast pace. All the twists and turns were logical and many unexpected. Really a good read. The only thing I don't like is that I'm afraid I'll read all his books before he finishes the story and will end up having to wait a year for the next book. For now...I'm on to book 4 - Blood of the Earth.
This book is a good continuation of the story. The author introduces new challenges and adversaries that keep Alexander and his friends busy. The action is fast enough so you don't get bored but the details are extensive so you don't have to wonder about things as you read.
The story expands on female characters as they develop their strengths and weakness. The subplot of the Mindbender sword is needed to continue the story for the Alexander but after Thin blade, the new sword is a little lacking. The Wyvrens riders and the"witches" are a fantasy take on female magic users.
A truly epic story, well thought out and presented. I have read all 7 books in the series (as of this posting), and have re-read them at least twice. I have gone from owning them on Kindle to starting to purchase the paperback versions.I have read the reviews that mention the book needing an editor, but I can only assume that an editor was indeed found. I find this book to be well written, and few/no spelling or very obviously bad sentences. The book isn't written for English teachers, but is, in my opinion, written well for its target audience, that of mainstream adults who have patience with a 7-book series, and believe in the basic ideas of the 'Old Law', and Good/Evil.
Wells continues the development of this fantastical war story very masterfully. The story of this war again teaches us about power and those who crave it vs those who have it thrust upon them. I found this book extremely engrossing and had trouble putting it down. I am very much looking forward to the remainder of this series.
Mindbender is a magical sword. What I found most enjoyable were the exciting adventures of the hero's wife and sister. Just like the previous books in this series, this one was extremely well written. No portions of it were boring, just lots of thrills!
Just finished it and loved it! So far every book I have read in this series had been amazing! I can hardly put it down. I just bought the next, Blood of the Earth. I cannot wait to see what happens with Alexander next.
