I am sad to say this is my least favorite in the Evermen Saga. There wasn't any surprises to how the story paid off. It felt like the obvious path was taken most often. Still I don't want to give the impression that I didn't like it. It is a competent ending to the series. I just felt it was okay instead of a slam dunk. The hardest part of the book was the middle. At this portion the book has many huge battles. The story really isn't progressing at this point. It is just battle description. The good guys are only defending. I just didn't feel very interested in hearing about defense. I want to have a plan going. I needed some mystery to keep me turning the page. There is still a lot to love about this conclusion. The way the author wraps up the story in the end is very satisfying. I found the closing chapters some of the best in the series. Also any chapter that has Ella or Miro as the narrator is great. They are very good characters that I have grown quite fond of.I don't know if James Maxwell plans to write anymore books in the Evermen saga. This series on a whole is very good. Whatever he writes I will read. Even though this book might not be his finest effort I remain a fan. I look forward to whatever adventures he has planned for us.

I read a lot of this type of lore and by far this series is at the top and it does not leave you hanging like the one I just finished. Loved the characters and the author took his sweet time to develop them so that you DO NOT forget them as you read each book. I have given this series as a gift to my grandson's fiance and she is on book 2 and loves it also. You don't get lost in the geography since James is so descriptive of the cities and the land masses. He doesn't jump around so you know the character and what his (her) adventure will lead you. You have to start from the beginning, book 1, to enjoy the growth of each character. The editing in the book is spot on and very few errors which makes the reading faster and easier. Hats off to you James for a job well done!

Wow what an awesome conclusion to a saga. Every time I thought it was the end there was another light. At the end of one chapter I just had to read another to see what was happening because of where it was.I can't say much without repeating myself so I won't. By this point you have read the other three I would hope or at least deciding if you want to and I can tell you this. That for me I loved the saga. I was brought into this land and did not come out until the very end. This will most likely be one that I will read again and again.

Well, James, what a wonderful story! With the exception of the graphic love scene in book 2, the rest of the series was exceptional and imaginative. I highly recommend reading this series to any adult because of the graphic love scene and highly descriptive gruesome war scenes. Well developed characters and imaginative plot line.

I enjoyed this series in general - however, I became exasperated at the ploy of captures of major characters over and over again. I wound up skimming them to get on with the story. The series could have been better with a good editor with advice on how not to drag a story out.

This series is a story of life, death, incredible hardships, amazing hero's and ruthless villains. Even the weakest person can do just one thing to change the destiny of an entire world, and the most pious can be corrupted to incredible acts of evil. The story is one that has told countless times, but James Maxwell created a world rich, full, evil, corrupt, in his unique style. I could not put the books down until I read the entire four book series in four days.

This series was exceptional. On a structural note, the writting was clear and immediate with proper punctuation - thank you! The depth of character development, with new people added as the series went along, gave readers insights into emerging friends and enemies. The characters had strengths as well as weaknesses making them feel accessible, not just untouchably heroic. New lands, changes in the political landscape, ingenious last second saves when all seemed lost...this series is one of only a few that I can be sure will stay with me always.

Maxwell accomplished something few writers do well...he sustained a protracted war (two in fact) for an entire series and made it dynamic and engaging. I'm sad to see this series end, but the ending was perfect.
