An indispensable reference for pathology residents, pathologists, and physicians specializing in OB/GYN In covering the topic of gynecologic and obstetric pathology, this book attempts to carve out its own niche midway between an atlas and a traditional textbook. The gross and microscopic images in this atlas are presented exclusively in color, and are supplemented by pertinent clinical information and discussions of differential diagnostic considerations. When deemed appropriate, images of immunohistochemical and special stains are included. To further enhance their visual appeal and the overall learning experience, many images in this book are presented with annotations and/or in composite form, and selected images have been enlarged. This image-intensive textbook also includes numerous Pap smear images and cytologic-histologic correlations. In addition to coverage of pathology of the organs of the female genital tract, brief overviews of the normal histology of these sites are provided as necessary background information. Separate chapters are also devoted to placental and peritoneal pathology. There is an emphasis on diagnostic-related issues pertaining to common lesions and their variants, although classic forms of rare lesions are also presented. In selected instances, recommendations on the processing of gross pathology specimens, discussions regarding the optimal approach for intraoperative consultations, and recommendations on the phrasing of key portions of pathology reports are provided. The 10 chapters of this book are organized by site, and the beginning of each chapter lists the entities discussed and their corresponding page numbers.

This textbook is a must have. I actually stumbled on to it from a colleague who recommended the text. This is the future of pathology texts. OTHER AUTHORS TAKE NOTE>>>> He is complete but he also makes interconnections so the reader can learn from chapter to chapter. He is so giving and wants you to learn female pathology. I feel that many authors are showing off and could'nt care less if the reader is actually interpreting and gathering the useful information to work with on a daily basis. His grasp of the material is so vast that he easily communicates what you truly need to know and how to learn it. His text and photomicrographs are so useful I felt like he was in the room teaching me.Einstein said that if someone understands something fully they could explain it to their grandmother. GET THIS TEXT (cytology, placenta chapter, amazing photos, crisp articulate and giving text) I feel like this kind of text will lead to a grassroots movement of pathologist who require the famous guys to follow Dr. Reicherts example. This is a true academic. The days of 35 authors for a single text should be over.
As a reference text for OB/GYN pathology, this book should be recommended as the first resource consulted by all residents and general practioners in pathology.Dr. Reichert's writing style, editing ability, and skill in succinctly communicating practical diagnostic perspectives - is an impressive model which most authors would benefit greatly by emulating.Compare his concise and clear comments on ovarian serous borderline tumors to other texts - and that alone should be sufficient reason for purchase.I had initially ordered this text with the impression it would be a quick summary reference for preparing my inaugural OB/GYN pathology lectures at our local medical school. Quickly, however, I began to appreciate its value as reference text in my daily surgical pathology practice.Dr. Reichert's ability to also summarize rare/uncommon entities while managing to keep the book relatively thin - further underscores the exceptionalism of this work.
I have used several GYN pathology texts through the years and the one now I refer to most often is Dr. Reichert's GYN Pathology text. It contains superbly illustrated photographs, provides state-of-the-art diagnostic criteria, and is very practical on a daily basis for the pathologist, OB/GYN, and resident alike. I have purchased a copy and thoroughly enjoy reading it. Its most useful attributes are its clear and succinct organization of entities which are arranged and presented in a concise and easy to read manner. The format and level of detail is consistent from chapter to chapter, and the references are up-to-date. I highly recommend this well-written text as an excellent resource for physicians!

I have purchased the book. It is amazing. The microphotographs are superior to any current gyn pathology textbooks. The text is engaging, clear and very current. It lists all useful ancillary techniques but is devoid of useless informational clutter that plagues some other textbooks. It has become the text I use most often.
Dr. Reichert did a wonderful job with this publication on Diagnostic Gynecology and Obstetric Pathology. It is very well written, comprehensive, in scope and depth. The photos are of excellent quality. This is an excellent reference text for the busy resident and practicing pathologist. A welcome addition to any pathologist book shelf.
I bought this book while signing out surg path at busy practice. While it covers just about everything you could possibly need to know, I was most impressed with how whenever I encountered a difficult differential diagnosis or odd finding, this book directly comments on it. Highly recommend for practicing pathologists. Likewise, this book could be quite helpful for pathology residents though it may lack some of the esoteric obscure information boards test. It will improve residents' performance at sign out.
This is a first rate single author work that is comprehensive in scope, highly readable and beautifully illustrated. The photomicrographs are of uniformly outstanding quality. The approach to differential diagnosis is extremely helpful to the practicing pathologist. I enthusiastically recommend this text and atlas to all pathologists whose practices involve any ob/gyn pathology.
