Hi there.I ordered this book because it was cheaper than some other options. However, the cover does not look the same as the one pictured in the ad. This is false advertising. Nonetheless, the content so far seems the same. I just won't be able to sell it back to the bookstore I normally resell my books to because they do not take international editions.Guess I should have gotten the clue from the company's name: InternationalBooks, but I still believe that they should have put the true pic of what the book looks like which is a lot different. Other places that sell international books do. That is why I did not buy the book from them, because the international version is not what I wanted. Let's be honest, the picture is typically what buyers look at anyways when they purchase items...not the fine print!
This was a required text for a course I'm taking. The concepts/terms described in this text are often so vague and generalized that they seem almost interchangeable. There are not enough practical examples to illustrate (often abstract) terms and concepts. Moreover, I'm annoyed that Nursing has to invent its own "jargon" to describe concepts in "nursing research" that are No different from concepts in any academic or biomedical research field. I would only recommend you buy this book if it is required reading.
I would never purchase this for leisure; required textbook. Overall, easy to navigate and the index is awesome in helping direct you! If you use this book for a class, USE THE ONLINE COMPANION!!! It helped a TON!!
This was my first textbook purchase on kindle. I love it. The book is well written. I found it easy to navigate from chapter to chapter. When I was looking at reviews for this book, someone said they found it annoying on kindle because the page numbers that would have been in the print version of the book were not there. Well, in most college courses they assign by the chapter, which is the case for me, so that has not been a problem. I jot down the location # as I am taking notes so that if I need to go back, I can quickly access it. I would definitely buy another textbook in Kindle version. It has worked out well for me.
I used this book for undergraduate and graduate research classes. It is straight forward and easy to read and understand.
Initially no one likes nursing research. It can be difficult one getting into literature reviews and annotated bibliographies which I had never done before. I felt this text easily broke done the concepts and requirements. I did very well with this book. It also provided example research papers for example reviews of a qualitative and quantitative review which also assisted the process. I regretted selling it back and should have kept it for further schooling.
I used to be a sociology major prior to switching to nursing. So, i'm very familiar with some of the concepts highlighted in this book. That's why i feel very secure in saying that this book makes simple terms into HIGHLY complex ones. Please skip it if you can.
I had to purchase this book for a BSN course. It has been essential in the course as we have to do qualitative and quantitative article critiques. This book takes a little getting used to as far as the layout. Once you have that figured out, the information is very easy to follow and understand. The best feature is all the examples of research reviews, the worst feature is it is a little difficult to navigate at first.
