To be honest, I purchased this book because I loved the cover and title: "Don't Forget to Sing in the Lifeboats." That little statement just resonated with me on a rainy day because our family has been going through some challenging times this year. The book, a little anthology of quotable quotes, has fulfilled the promise of its cover: "Uncommon Wisdom for Uncommon Times." The whimsical design of the book is such that the reader can casually flip through...pick and choose what to read as mood and momentary interests dictate. It isn't necessary to read cover to cover. I believe this item is meant to be a browsing book; therefore, it is loosely organized by blue idea/topic prompts, unrestricted to specified sections, chapters, heading collections, and other conventions that are generally found in quote books. For example, a "Money" quote might be followed by "True Grit" quote. A "Silver Lining"quote might come before an "Ironic Twist" quote. I actually like this type of mixed layout because it allows for discoveries, keeping the book a lot fresher for me than if quotes were locked into certain sections. While it would be easier to find specific quotes by specific people if the book had stricter organization elements like a Table of Contents and an index, it would also defeat the purpose of this browsing book. :)A nice feature that appears in this book is the "Who's Quoted" piece at the back. It's an alphabetical listing that contains the names and mini-bios of people who are quoted. The roster offers people from history, literature, movies, pop culture, science, music, art, philosophy, politics....just about every aspect of Humanity one can think of!
