I write books in the self help genre and also run quite a few social media pages. Inspirational quotes are things that I use both in my writing and on social media to engage followers. Online sources are great but tend to dry up and become repetitive after awhile. I found this book of quotations to be a great resource for some fresh material on a variety of subjects. It is very well organized, with a wide range of inspirational, humorous and thought-provoking quotations from many sources. I refer to this often and think that it would make a wonderful gift as well.
This is not a book you sit down and read like a novel, You pick it up, read some, and put it down. Then a few days or a week later, you pick it up and read some more.There are a lot of duplicated quotes in every section I've read so far - sometimes one right after the other. And there are a lot of quotes that are attributed to more than one person.
Bettle Midler said: "After thirty, a body has a mind of its own." I love that quote. And there are over 500 pages of such lovable quotables. I figure that adds up to over 7,000 quotations. So this is one of the few books that come close to living up to its adjective "Ultimate." These quotations are arranged alphabetically in over 70 categories, from "Age" to "Work," and clickable too.Some wise educator said: "If you want to get a good, broad education, read books of quotations." This is especially true when they are well selected, as the compiler for this book has done. Many quotations have a person's lifetime of experience and wisdom packed into a tidbit of few words. For instance: "Age does not diminish the extreme disappointment of having a scoop of ice cream fall from the cone" (Jim Fiebig.) Or from Brigitte Bardo: "It is sad to grow old but nice to ripen."That's what I'm doing by reading this book, in bits of course--I'm ripening my wisdom! I'm sure you will too. This book is a bargain and worth keeping in your ebook library. I also love that Underwood typewriter photo on the cover--just like the one I had in my high school typing class. I'm also glad the first category in this collection is "Age." Once I get through that one, everything else will be easier. Except maybe for "Death"--"Some men are alive simply because it is against the law to kill them" (Edward W. Howe).When you're ready with a sharp quotation, people will want to keep you around! So this book can prolong your life--or at least make it more enjoyable.
Nevermore looking for another quotations book. The Ultimate Book of Quotations is excellent.This was a gift for my sister, but after flipping through I wanted one for myself. DELIGHTED to find I could get an e-copy for $0.99 so downloaded immediately.I really like the Contents with quotes listed by genre: Age, Birthday, Computers, Dad, Equality, Faith, Government, Health, Intelligence, Life, Marriage, Nature, Parenting, Religion, Sports, Travel, Wedding; just a few categories listed. As a user, I would have liked quoted persons to be entered alphabetically ... lots more work for Joseph Demakis who compiled and arranged the quotations. Perhaps he can do another edition adding this feature?I browsed several quotation books, but reviews for The Ultimate Book of Quotations were positive so chanced the purchase. Glad I did. Because of the format, which makes it great for writers, researchers ... anyone needing a quick quote for their project, this is a nice addition for your reference library.HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Would buy again.
What an awesome book! The author has really compiled such a long and complete list of so many amazing quotes. I don't know how he could have found all these but I am glad he did. This book would make a great reference book for anyone who is a writer, a business mentor, or any type of field in which quotations can be used for motivation or enlightenment. The quotes in this book cover so many different topics and genres that there is literally a quote to fit almost any subject or message that you are trying to portray. I enjoyed reading this book and I literally have put it on my desk at work amongst a couple other reference books that I use almost daily. If you are looking for a book like this, or you're just looking for something a little bit out of the ordinary to read, then I highly recommend this book for you. 5 big stars!
This is easily the best reference source for quotes that I have ever come across in Kindle format. There are 500+ pages jam packed with quotes, all sorted alphabetically and by category. Topics range from Age to Family and from Death to Work. I consider this book a definite must have resource for writers of all kinds or for anyone looking to spice of a speech with anecdotes which support their point of view. I like to use the book for reflection over an issue that may be troubling me just to see how minds that will always be far greater than mine feel about the situation. However you decide to use "The Ultimate book of Quotations ," I am sure you will be be quite satisfied with your purchase.
