Dermoscopy has added an additional tool to the dermatologist to ascertain potential risks with pigmented lesions. It builds upon the initial three point checklist of (i) asymmetry, (ii) atypical network, and (iii) blue white strictures. The authors then take the reader through a wealth or examples to demonstrate the application of this approach. Some of the lesions are clearly at risk by observation but then when examining some which are indeterminate at first view the presentation demonstrates where the risks become clear.Chapter 2 expands to several other check lists for more specific diagnoses. There are four, five, six point check lists with again a wealth of images.Chapter 3 presents an excellent summary of clinical cases for review and analysis. The web site associated with the book is excellent and provides a portable means to refer to the entire text as well as the images. The web site if well organized and quite useful as both an alternative to the text and as an adjunct to it as well.It would have been useful for some discussion of the correlation of the pathology of melanoma and the images with dermoscopy, namely why are we seeing what we see, what cellular aberrations result in this and how does it correlate with the dermatopathologic examination. In addition there is also the issue of improved specificity and sensitivity using dermoscopy versus the classic approach. Namely how much improvement is there and what conditions must be observed to maintain them.Overall this is an exceptionally good introduction to dermoscopy.

This is a good book. The pictures are excellent. The traffice light system is very useful. The explanations of the decisions taken are detailed and helpful. For anyone interested in dermoscopy, they could do a lot worse than with this book. The only gripe I have about this book is that it tries too hard to be 'used friendly.' This is a personal issue: others may like the style it is written in.

The photo quality on the electronic version is excellent for all but a few photos and it is really a great introduction to this subject. It was a quick read too; took maybe about 2 weeks reading in the evenings after work.

This is an excellent textbook to learn, gain familiarity with, and appreciate dermoscopy. As a 4th year medical student and aspiring dermatologist, getting an entry-level Dermlite and going through this illustrative text helped to refine my clinical evaluation of skin lesions. I highly recommend it for any student interested in dermoscopy or gaining fluency in advanced lesion morphology.

The book has plenty of photos and different dermatoscopic cases, is easy reading and has the option of adding it to on-line personal medical library !It came sooner than was estimated by , and in exellent condition. As it was my first on-line order ,i`m very satisfied espesially with the purchasing prosess!

It is irritating that authors see blue colour in photos where I clearly cannot see it. I am afraid that dermoscopy is stil not very developed discipline of science; common sense while deciding wheather or not to excise a sample is still fundamental.

very good pictures, well organized, more or less complete

Excellent book. Well-acquired images, illustrative comments, many different diagnoses. At the end, the reader feels like his eye is more trained to see the many variations that can be seen in dermoscopy.
