I purchased this book to use as refresher for working in the ED. It probably will work for that purpose however, it does not have a single mention of diabetes, DKA, etc... For a book that was rated so well, it was a disappointment for leaving out such important content. My thought is to save your money and purchase a different book that is more thorough.

This book is written for the "casual" reader. It is written in the style of the "dummies" series of books. It is light reading, easy to digest, and you can just pick it up and read a chapter or part of one. There are many "bullets" or "pearls" throughout and in the sidebars - to point out those clinically pertinent tips. Althought not specifically designed for a CEN review; it does still cover all the content. I used it to help write my CEN review seminar. I have even used this book as a resource when I authored my own CEN/CFRN exam review class. For more information on CEN/CFRN review courses that we teach go to: [...]

I was recommended this book as part of my orientation to a new job as an ER nurse. It was reasonably helpful, though it didn't "cut to the chase" as much as I'd like. I don't know of another book to take its place, so I guess I'd recommend it.

I do like the "Incredibly Easy" series, as I find them to be informative without being too wordy. And yes, they are written simply, but not too simply. I haven't had much of an opportunity to preview this book yet, but the little I have read, I have found informative.

This is a good book for a new nurse, but not for an experience nurse. I have 5 years ER experience and 12 years MED SURGE/ ortho trauma, step down etc. This book will not help prepare you for the CEN, FYI.

I gave this as a gift to my sister who is a nursing student. She wants to be in the emergency field, but she didn't know what to expect. This book covers all kinds of topics, including describing the conditions in detail, which I found other reference books did not. This gives lots of detail so it is good for the beginning nurse, but I think senior nurses will appreciate the lively format too.

I found this to be a wonderful book to help me review nursing emergency room skills. It is fun to read, well written, and concise. It is a good book for nurses who are just starting to work emergency room and a good quick easy to read review for experienced nurses. It gives a little basic anatomy and physiology as well as assessment and treatment. I found it to be current and relative to todays practice of nursing.

Easy to read and follow. From what was read so far, concepts are clearly explained and uncomplicated. Good book to use by itself or with other supplements to study
