I had previously bought another nursing care plan book, "Sparks and Taylor's Nursing Diagnosis Reference Manual," as it was referred to me by my first clinical instructor. But, as I started creating care plans, I found it pretty uninformative with not much detail suiting what my professor's need was for our assignments. I then borrowed a nurse's care plan book that she had used for her nursing school just the previous 2 years, "Nursing Care Plans: Nursing Diagnosis and Intervention," the 6th edition of THIS book. I LOVED IT! It suited ALL my needs and provided NANDA diagnoses and definitions, as the other did not. I came on to see if it was available and saw that this new 7th edition was coming out. I had to get this new one because it would be the best of the best. And sure enough, it is! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to nursing students doing care plans as well as to nurses who create care plans as part of their profession. There are not enough good things I can write about this book. Highly recommended. I'm spreading the word to my classmates this upcoming semester.

This book is excellent!!! I have purchased and returned several care plan books that were recommended to me by classmates because they were so convoluted with too oo much unnecessary stuff. This care plan book has everything you need in a nice concise format. The care plans and the disease plans are so easy to understand and conform to fit your needs. One of my best investments thus far!!!

I have purchased 4 careplan books and this is the one I use the most. Ackley and Ladwig's Nursing diagnosis handbook had too much information with many rationales that were simply not relevant in most cases. Swearingen's All-in-one I bought first and pretty much let collect dust though I still have OB and Peds to go through and it might prove handy. Townsend's Nursing diagnoses in psychiatric nursing was AMAZING for psych nursing, but not anything else. Gulanick and Myer's Nursing care plans I use over and over. It is well organized and the online care plan constructor means you don't have to carry it around with you everywhere. I L-O-V-E love IT!

I bought Ackley when I first started nursing school and bought the hard book of this one my second year. I honestly loved both of them, and frequently combined care plans and rationales from each of these excellent guides. At my school, we had to always have at least two references aside from our textbook in order to get decent grades on care maps. By combining interventions from both, I met that requirement. My favorite aspect of this book over Ackley was that it included rationales for everything, including assessment criteria. Not only did that make my homework easier, but drilled in what I needed to look for during evalution whenever I encountered a similar patient. For any nursing student, I would HIGHLY recommend both this book and Ackley in combination.

This book is good. I wouldn't say it's horrible. I have used some of the care plans from it, but in combination with other sources. For example, I also have Achley & Ladwig (Which I love) - So sometimes I'll take the outcomes and/or defining characteristics from Ackley, and use some of the interventions from here just to switch it up a bit. But my main book is Ackley & Ladwig, I really believe that is the 'Best' care plan book out there. Like I said, this book wasn't horrible, but most likely, you'll need to use other sources as well.

I have really enjoyed this care plan book and it has been a great asset to completing our monster care plans. While it does not have the most detailed information and I feel it sometimes lack a lot of in-depth knowledge, it shines where most care plan books do not - interventions and rational. Our nursing program requires that every intervention requires in depth rational. Which makes sense. What I have found is that most care plan books do not include this information. Perhaps because they want you to make those connections yourself...hahaha :) But, lets face it.....if you knew everything, you wouldn't be in school or looking for a care-plan book.I use this book to help me compile complete and concise interventions for my care plans. It has never failed me. It is spelled out in very simple terms and most information is grouped together. For example if your patient has pneumonia, you can find multiple diagnosis in the same area. No need to flip all over the book. I feel like a lot of time is wasted in searching for information, I have never had this problem with this book and it makes life a lot easier.Bottom line, great book to use in addition to another care-plan book. Probably not the best to use as your sole reference book.

OKAY, I DID NOT PURCHASE ALL THE REQUIRED BOOKS THIS SEMESTER. I AM SO GLAD THAT I DIDN'T. MY CLASSMATES HAVE A CARE PLAN BOOK FROM DAVIES AND THERE IS INFORMATION IN THEIR BOOKS THAT NOT EVEN MY INSTRUCTOR CAN UNDERSTAND. THIS BOOK IS EASY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND, IT BREAKS CARE PLANS DOWN BY SYSTEMS WHICH MAKES IT MUCH EASIER. GREAT INVESTMENT, GOD BLESS!

I was given the project of developing templates for care plans in a electronic medical record (EMR)system. I had used care plan libraries in other systems, and found the systems to be very incomplete. So, when I had this opportunity to add to a very incomplete system, I wanted to make sure nurses using this system would be able to find care plans for whatever diagnosis was identified in the EMR library. This book provided great assistance in achieving my goal in making a user friendly library for the nurses. I continue to use this book as a reference if a diagnosis has been missed, and have also directed the nurses to this book.
