I have this whole series of books and they have helped me get through Nursing school. They outline everything in neat order without the extra fluff and the questions have rationales for why each answer is right OR wrong. It's all about passing the tests and these books help.
Very good book to have. Especially if you're having problems with "application" type questions on your tests. It comes with a CD too!. also full of questions, math questions as well..You will actually learn a lot when you read the rationales. It gives you the reason why the answer is right or wrong. However, I was also expecting the book to have a generalized description of the most common drugs, but it doesn't. It is just full of questions, this will help you with your tests while in nursing school.
I love all the Davis series, even pharmacology.. These books are all broken down by subject and than each chapter is further broken down into specific sections. Each chapter had at least 75 question to practice a single subject matter... these books helped me to get straight A in Nursing. Everyone always asked me how i did so well on test and i would always give credit to these books. They were a great investment
I love the success books! I have both the Pharmacology success book and the fundamentals success book and would highly recommend them to anyone in these classes! Nursing tests are not like traditional tests and are more critical thinking and applied knowledge based. These books give you a chance to practice these styled questions before you see them on your exam! They are divided into categories that are easy to match up with the materials you will be tested on. I have also seen a few of these questions on my actual test! I have noticed that when I use these as a practice test it gives me a good indication of what I have made on my actual test. The answers give you reasons as to why one is better than the one you may have chosen that was incorrect and it gives you a good idea of how prepared you actually are! These books have saved me from pre-test stress!!!! I feel more prepared for my exams after purchasing these books! I do not know what I would have done without them!!!! Definitely worth the buy!
I wish I would have known about this book earlier in my pharmacology class. I loved this book. The information was presented well and the questions were very well written and pertinent. I will use this book to periodically brush up until I take boards in a year. Thanks.
All these Davies Success Books are well worth the price. I have been buying the books for every nursing class. They provide excellent questions as well as the rationales for both right and wrong answers. I highly recommend these books for all nursing students or anyone that needs to take the NCLEX.
This was one of my most helpful books in nursing school and when studying for my NCLEX. It's set up with all NCLEX style questions (you know the good old 'which is more right?' because two answers could be correct). Those questions drove me crazy in nursing school. But it's the best way to prepare for the licensing exam. At then end of each chapter they have the right answer highlight and give the rationale for the right answers AND the wrong answers, very helpful if you ask me. I never used the CD that came with the book so I can't comment as to that. This is a great book though!!!
The success series is excellent. I recommend all of them. Use this book to study the meds for whatever body system you are going to be tested on. This will prepare you for those med questions on your tests.
