I have always really enjoyed the Review & Rationale series but this was the first book that fell a little short for me. I am not giving this book a bad review because it is a good book; it is organized, clear, and easy to understand. This book probably would have been more helpful to me when I was in nursing 101 or Med/Surg. I purchased this book during my final semester in nursing school while taking a critical care class. Most of the medications I learned about in critical care were not covered in this book which I didn't realize when I made the purchase. I spoke with another nursing student in my class who also has this book and she agreed: OK book but not a favorite. I don't exactly know why but I always reach for other references first before looking at this book. Perhaps one should look through a copy of this book before buying it to make sure it fits your specific needs.
I heard many times that Pharmacology was a very difficult subject. My school requires for students to take Pharmacology as a separate course and there is no way I could have been successful without the help of this book. I made straight A's in all my exams and finals, simply because I took advantage of answering and reviewing questions in the book and on the cd.Please buy this book! You will not have any regrets.
THIS BOOK WAS MUCH MORE HELPFUL THAN THE ONE I HAD TO BUY FOR SCHOOL. IT BROKE EVERYTHING DOWN INTO OUTLINE FORMATE AND EVEN IDS THE NCLEX INFO.
I love all the Reviews & Rationals I been buying them for every class, this is no exception, I know we suppose to read the books from the actual class but if you are in a nursing program you also know there is no time to read all the books, so you have to study the best you can to obtain good grades. These books are the best thing ever published for us nursing students, what I do is after my teacher covers a particular subject I go to the book pretest and see how much I retain in class. Also I read the chapters from this book and do the postest, it has many question online but I do not have the time, besides in my school we need to do Kaplan after every semester so I have to practice test online for that too. Like I said if you are in nursing school you need all the help you can, just find the best way to study and that works for you. Ask questions to senior students on how to study, review your exams, so you will learn from your mistakes. Good Luck!!!
As a nursing student who was struggling so much in Pharmacology class, I can honestly say that this book really helped me. It tells you everything that you really need to know. I read both my book given to me from my Pharmacology class along with this one and all the drug classes sort of just became hammered in my head and I understood the drugs better. By the time the class finally ended, I was shocked to see I got such a good grade when I had been almost failing!
HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK. It is an easy read and pulls the important stuff the instructor is looking for and condenses everything for you. Any book in the Review/Rationale series is a MUST have for nursing students. It is not a replacement for the textbook but when you are overwhelmed and quickly need something to give you the understanding of a concept this book does that.
This whole series of books is a big help. It condenses everything into a short outline form but with the info you need plus there are NCLEX type questions with the answers and rationales. I recommend the whole series if you are in Nursing School.
Gets to the info needed w/o the excessive info....there are better books. But it really depends on your learning style. I still have other resource books to go with it. They do work wonderfully together. Pharmocolgy Success...was a great book to add to this. If not just alone.
