great tool for clinicians wanting to make sound diagnostic mental health decisions. Especially helpful are the decision trees (whereby one goes towards or against certain diagnoses based on schema an trees)
For an other wise solemn and serious subject, this writer makes his points clear and memorable by interspersing funny quips and reflections (which made me laugh) through out the book. Morrison makes learning about diagnosis interesting. His sense of humor helps make this book hard to put down.
Easy to read, has lots of case studies. I found the decisions trees very helpful.Be aware that (as the author himself says) he kind of straddles the DSM IV and DSM 5 (which makes sense, given it's publication date), so some of the terminology is technically outdated (though will likely still be used in practice for quite some time).
This book is better than his diagnosis made easy series. Hands down. No fluff, just what you need to know in a very concise and easy to understand manner.Buy this book!
The title of the book represents the body of the book. The book also helps prepare me for the mental health exam.
This book really assists someone in becoming familiar with the diagnostic process. The case examples and decision trees are crucial for students just learning how to diagnose with their patients.
Diagnosis has not been easy to learn... but now it is! Book is helpful, use to augment the DSM-5. Also check out the DSM-5 Made Easy, well written and helpful.
