I am in my second year of an online FNP program, just beginning my clinicals. This book is an excellent source for writing history/physicals, case studies, looking for basic information for subjective data, follow-ups, referrals, etc. It is not an in-depth text but is crammed with a wealth of "basic" information on many diagnoses. It is not the "cheapest" book out there. For a text that is not required, the cost certainly has a bit of an "ouch" factor to it for over $70. But, it is worth the bite to took to my budget. I would recommend it! But if you are hesitating, take a look at it (it does have the "look inside" feature here on ).

If you buy this book through kindle, there is no table of contents or way to search where to find a specific topic only by number and it does not give you page numbers. How do you possibly search topics. I had to return it and buy the paper back. This is a reference book but no was to reference what your looking for.

Terrible in the kindle format. Doesn't have an index or a real contents list. The main section of book which is the guidelines doesn't have any list of contents or index for navigation too. The tables can't be enlarged and it is hard to visualize them on a small screen of tablet or a smartphone. Even, it is hard to find a section of it on my PC. You just have search option which is sometimes useful, sometimes not. It is a waste of money.

I bought this as a requirement for school. It is a well thought out reference. Information is presented in a logical concise format and includes common complaints, S&S, subjective and objective data, testing, Differential Dx, and treatment. The only reason not to give the book 5 stars is because it is a book. Treatment guidelines change so I always check online up to date reference materials to verify current treatment recommendations. I would love to see this as an app with frequent updates.

This is a really well written book with concise and to the point information. I bought the Kindle version because I tire buying expensive textbooks that take up space. I was disappointed to find out that there was a table of contents but it was not hyperlinked, which means finding information in the book is either dependent on a manual search flipping through pages or searching for key words. I marked all the chapters, but it is very time consuming. I shouldn't have to do this as a consumer. Fix this issue and I give it 4.5 stars

I used this quite a bit in school and it was helpful for many of the basic illnesses and disease conditions. It guides the student step-by-step through signs and symptoms, lab and other testing, medications, etc. One big drawback was that it put the teaching for the condition/illness at the end of the book instead of with the main information. So if you are writing a SOAP, you had to flip back and forth.

While I don't recall how I stumbled onto this gem, I am so glad I did. Much like Leik's book for NPs, this book is concise and oh-so-helpful. For quick review, each presenting complaint is laid out by definition, incidence, pathogenesis, predisposing factors, common complaints, other s/s, and so forth. There is a plethora of patient teaching guides as well. I am at the end of my DNP program and wish I would've had this early on. This will be another good book in my review arsenal.

The book was excellent when writing differential diagnosis. I recommend it for all FNP students and medical school students. It is more of a reference text. Money spend was worth it. Happy customer.
