This hardcover book is nicely laid out and easy to read. The tone of the writing is friendly and understandable and the book itself covers a wide range of topics involving modern Witchcraft, with a brief nod to historical Witchcraft in one section. The book talks about what is Witchcraft, a few different kinds of modern Witchcraft (for instance, Green Witchcraft and Kitchen Witchcraft), and briefly discusses the differences and similarities between Wicca and Witchcraft and Paganism and Witchcraft (the author states that Witchcraft is a practice and not a religion, which is an often disputed and discussed topic).The book ranges from providing spells for different purposes (Love to Healing), lists of herbs and stones/crystals and their magickal properties, Sabbats and Sabbat rituals, finding the right coven for you or creating a coven, some of the magical tools of Witchcraft (a few Traditional tools were not even mentioned, though), and so on. Each topic was lightly covered, so this is really a book for a beginner in that respect. There are no real secrets or in-depth occult information in this book and, if someone is really interested in the Craft, they would have to move on from this book into those that cover the topics in question more thoroughly in order to really have an understanding of Witchcraft. A few books in that regard might be Doreen Valiente's ABC of Witchcraft and Paul Huson's Mastering Witchcraft and Gwyn's Light From the Shadows, just to name a few.As such, this is a very beginner book that I kept having deja vu moments with as I have read the same material provided multiple times before. These same topics have been covered in many other books already out there...which left me wondering why we really needed this book?
