A terrific read that will have fans scrambling for more.Length: Print, 63 pages.Q - Target Audience/Genre and is it marketed as Nonfiction or Fiction:A – Fans of Harry Potter and fantasy.Q - How was this book obtained?A – Purchased on during pre-order stage.Q - Is this a book that I can read without having to read others first?A – Not really, but I doubt any buyer would be purchasing this without having purchased every Potter book written.Q – If this is a recurring character or a series, does it have a cliffhanger ending?A – No cliffhanger ending. These bits and pieces help fill the gaps for fans of harry Potter. Another reviewer states that these all, except for one, are available on the internet. I personally am the sort that would rather have the stories in Kindle.Q - Are there a lot of typos/misspellings, grammatical errors or other editing failures?A – No.Q - Is this a fast, easy read or is it more of a leisure read?A – Very quick, easy read.Q - What sort of language does this writer use to amplify the points made?A – Plain English, with no profanities.Q – What age group is this suitable for?A – Young Adult and older, but it also is a terrific book parents can read aloud to their youngsters.Q - My biggest pleasure or disappointment?A – No complaints here.
Short Stories from Hogwarts of Power, Politics and Pesky Poltergeists is essential reading for any fan(attic) of the Harry Potter Wizarding World. Before I begin, it's important to note that a lot (if not most) of this information IS available on Pottermore. If you just want to read this without the cost, head over there, get sorted, find your patronus, and read until your heart is content! BUT! If you're an avid collector of all things Potter, this is another jewel to add to your collection! My deepest hope is that this (along with the other two Pottermore presents kindle shorts) will be made into a printed book (even together!) so I can add it to my bookshelf along with the rest of the series. Why won't they just print it already!?In all seriousness, though, this short is filled with fantastic information about some of our (least) favorite witches & wizards. This one is more of the least favorite, but alas, we can't just have all the good stuff. The book starts by detailing information about that horrible cow…I mean Umbridge. It then goes on to detail some information about Minister for Magics and Azkaban. From there you learn about Slughorn, Potions, the Polyjuice Potion, and Cauldrons. Then you learn about Qirrell, and finally, everyone's favorite Poltergeist, Peeves. I won't get in to all the information in them, but I always find the additional back story on these characters sheds new light on them when I re-read the books. It's so wonderful to continue to get new information from JK Rowling about the Wizarding World. After the fiasco that was 'The Cursed Child', new writing that actually makes sense in the universe is always welcomed with open arms.
