This book gives a good breakdown of the metric system and the math needed for calculations of drug dosages. There are examples and questions of every kind. In the back of the book, the answers are given in a detailed step-by-step manner, allowing you to check your work and figure out your mistakes. Good book for learning dosages.
This was one of the BEST books out there to help learn to covert and calculate dosages of medication. I would highly recommend this book to anyone in the nursing program. It starts out with very easy and simple conversions and gets harder as you work your way through the book. Its a very easy to follow and apply method and easy to understand.
This book helped touch up some on my math skills, as I related them to med calculations. I would give this book 5 stars if it had supplemental online content, such as more practice exams, or just more exams in the book all together. I went through most the chapters in one night and made a 100 on my med calculations test the next day. I have to say that I generally enjoy math, just needed a brush up, so if someone was needing more extensive help, this book may not work.
If you need help with dosage calculations, this book is a decent resource--but if you have a basic understanding of chemistry and conversions, you probably will not need this book. This book was recommended for med calc for nursing school. I opened it once and briefly flipped through the first few chapters. It was a complete waste of money for me because I had taken organic and biochem and was very familiar with equations, calculations, and conversions. I passed med calc with no issues.
Over all its a helpful book for my sibling. I am pretty sure they could not update the version every few years. Great condition when received. shipping was delayed. but got what i paid for. used it all semester.
I love this book. It goes step by step on how to do the calculations and the book also explains it in a couple of ways. At the end of each chapter, there's additional practices that you can try and the answers are on the back too.This book have really helped me pass through the math part of my nursing school and it is very helpful too.
I bought this for my girlfriend who is entering an accelerated nursing program. She needed to read the first 5 chapters and take an entrance exam on it. It's a good book with decent explanations as to how to do basic 5th grade math (that we all forgot). I gave it a 4/5 because I explained some of the math to her and it was easier my way than the way the book was showing her to do it. Other than that, it was a good book and informative. Refreshes your memory for how to do basic math.
I am starting a nursing program in September of this year and have to take a test on the second day of school (need to get 100%). I am unable to take the course that was offered over this summer, therefore have to rely on my own abilities with this book. This book has been a godsend!! Math is definitely my weakness so I was worried as to how I'd do. I am doing really well!! Each chapter has a pretest, review, worksheets, and posttest. Very self-explanatory and to the point....Can't say enough....Thanks to this book, I am confident that I will be ready for the test!
