I thought I was getting a study guide but this is really just a book of questions. Also, the questions are much more simple than the practice questions for the PNCB test. However, it is a good way to study systematically and good resource for group studying.
I just took the PNCB-PC exam and this book was spot on for content areas emphasized. Yes, you have to be careful because some guidelines have changed significantly since publication (BMI, UTI in particular). But as far as some of the more obscure rashes and infections, this book really helped to review things I never saw in clinic. I passed the exam using this and the orange Silbert book to study, and supplemented a little bit with the Burns primary care text.
As others have noted, this book has questions only (because it has a review book to go along with it, guys...). But, all of the answer keys have GOOD rationale. I really like this book, it has a lot of questions so you'll get a lot of practice in. It probably should not be your only study tool, but it's definitely worth the money. I have to disagree with the negative reviews.
Has lots of questions but the rationales could be much more detailed, and I found the actual test questions to be much more difficult. Also, this text is out of date it's like 10 years old I recommend they make a more recent edition with more detailed rationales covering not only the correct answer but also why the other choices are incorrect.
This was a great book to practice taking questions. I only bought this one and not its counter part. I liked the way the chapters were broken down and the rationales were great. Overall it is a great way to test your knowledge!!
This book covers all the basic categories that you need to know for your exam. I would not use this as my only study aid, but in addition to another study book. It is all review questions.
This book provides plenty of questions to familiarize oneself with general question format and level of difficulty. I recommend also purchasing the accompanying review text and reviewing questions as you read through the accompanying chapters. Not all chapters match perfectly with questions, but they do a nice job of providing a thorough review.
This book is a little outdated compared to some others that I ordered, so I really didnt even open it. However, it was good quality as far as the condition and service/shipping
