An absolutely extraordinary book by a wonderful thinker and speaker. I only regret having not learned about Jonathan Bowden till after he was dead. We had a mutual friend (actually two or three) who had coincidentally died a short while before, and it was in Googling around and finding eulogies for the friend that I found Jonathan's name.Essentially, this is a collection of incisive and humorous speech-transcriptions and essays from a traditionalist-conservative perspective (and I'm sure Bowden and others would object to that characterization). The description/dissection of the Frankfurt School is superb. The reminiscences about 'Angry Young Man' Bill Hopkins, the mystery intellectual of Ladbroke Grove, are definitive.A great joy to read, although occasionally a transcribed sentence is difficult to comprehend. Jonathan Bowden was an instinctively brilliant speaker, able to come up with insightful analogies and explanations "on the fly." But though such in-person rhetoric makes perfect sense to the immediate listeners, it does not always make for clear prose, in the absence of gestures and facial expressions. Therefore every other page has at least once sentence which I had to reread several times before I could grasp its syntax and intent.
The statement, "... we Europeans face-in particular the guilt that so many of us have, to the point that the great majority of us feel morally condemned for simply asserting our absolutely normal and legitimate interests in controlling societies we have established and dominated for hundreds and, in the case of Europe, many thousands of years." This says it all. It is amazing that in America you can have any racial support group with the exception of White Europeans. Blacks for blacks, Jews for Jews is all acceptable. However, Whites for Whites is not only considered racist, but in most cases outlawed? Who wrote these rules?
An amazing book. We can only hope many morepeople will read it. We need an awaawakening to the Cultural Marxist Ideology that is destroying western civilization. If we don't wake up the west will die a slow death and become a Socialist Marxist State. Maybe it's destiny? There is no where to run. This ideology is impregnated into our peoples psycological existence. It's almost become a religion. I don't know if we can stop the train, but this book is a good start at recognizing what the problem is.
