This book is a significant improvement over the last edition which, I think is about 10 years old. Full color high quality pictures, a some of which are Netter pictures (yep, remember all the time you spent with this book in first year anatomy), and a lot of concise charts and graphs. The type, maybe a tad on the smallish side, but that is no reason to not get this book. It provides concise summaries of topics with good references from which you can look up more information on a topic if needed. And, if you purchase the physical book, Expert Consult has an app though which you can download a copy of the book to your iPad/iPhone (probably other devices) which makes a book with this many chapters very easy to navigate. You can also highlight and take notes in the app. Overall, a good book to add to a residents collection in preparation for boards or the ITE.

This is all you need for written boards. I just took boards July 2014 and I wish I had read Faust cover to cover twice. Do not relly on test questions for boards, which is a different exam from the in-service.

"Faust's Anesthesiology Review, Fourth Edition" is distinguished by its decidedly concise and focused outline format, which makes it one of the best available educational resources for Anesthesiology residents. It is well-written, well-organized, and well-referenced, and it is especially useful in the preparation for the annual In-Training Examination, as well as the actual ABA Written Board Examination. "Faust's Anesthesiology Review, Fourth Edition" is an outstanding Anesthesiology Textbook, and I give it a five-star rating, along with my highest recommendation.

Good review for the board. Will require a significant commitment to finish it though. The book is smaller in size compared to regular texts but the font is smaller and there is of information packed in each chapter. Should work for oral boards as well.

I wish I had purchased this book earlier in my program! I have only had this for a short period of time but it's an amazing go to book. I like to read this first for whatever topic/area I'm looking into to get the main idea and key points and can follow up with a more in depth book after

One of my favorite books to read so far during residency. Chapters are concise. The material is presented in a high yield, easy to remember format. I will use this book a lot. The online version and free app are also VERY easy to use and read from. I frequently read on my Iphone and it's great.

Great review book. It is short and sweet and covers a whole chapter in 3-5 pages. It makes for an easy review. It also has colored pictures which I find attractive in a book. I would definitely recommend this book for reviewing what you've already read.

I bought this book as a preparation for the anesthesiology residency board exam. Unfortunately the text is so small I find myself straining to read it. I would strongly recommend that the publisher correct this and use size 12 - 14 or equivalent Arial font. However the content is excellent for review. Even though the forward explicitly states that this update was made for the intent of morning reports, this book is much more. Insight into topics not adequately covered elsewhere are found in this text including discussion of ground fault lines and muscle rigidity from opioid narcotics. The illustrations in this update are in full color too.The illustrations, though, could still be improved. The difference between this text and other reviews is that one gets the sense that photos chosen were chosen at random from a google search. Furthermore, the resolution of images is not uniform. This can be addressed in future updates.Where a book counts--in content--Faust's review is excellent. It will make an excellent contribution to any anesthesiology resident's review library.
